Speaking of not ticking off a nurse...this goes for doctors too!!!
MD comes in and discusses evening dinner plans with his gf who's coming in for the weekend. Acts like an ass when a nurse asks him what restaurant he's going to. (it was somewhere where you have to know someone who knows someone to get reservations)
SAME MD comes back a couple hours later, is informed by a different nurse about his pt's low urine o/p, bp, map, cvp, etc... and about the renal md's opinion of it. MD chooses to get up and walk out.
Whoever would have guessed that him ignoring a patient's need would stimulate a call to the restaurant cancelling his evening plans? I can't imagine who would have done such a thing!
Needless to say the next day he wasn't in the best mood. Who would've guessed?

one day a nurse was caring for a really beligerant patient. she couldnt do anything right, so the nurse put him in an exam room and draws the curtain. she disappears for a minute and returns and tells the patient that she needs to take his tempurature. the man becomes very agitated and opens his mouth. the nurse shakes her head and says, "not orally, please bend over." the patient gets very agitated again and bends over so that the nurse can take his tempurature. She tells the gentleman to stay put and leaves the curtain open. every now and then the man hears occasionall snickering. Finally the doctor walks in and says "whats going on?" the patient replied "Doctor, haven't you seen anyone get thier tempurature taken?". the doctor raises his eyebrow "not with a carnation!"
