Okay, I am going to run out of here screaming. I am now sharing an office with OCD, RN and she is fussing and fussing. She is stressing that she has to do a case presentation on Monday for the state, has to turn in power point slides tomorrow, and she can’t find her pencil holder in any of the 20 boxes she has yet to unpacked. She unpacked about that many last night.
weather is overcast, in the mid 60s.
Hope you all have a decent day.
G'morning (actually afternoon)~
The last thing I remembered last night was laying my head on the pillow. I totally conked out from exhaustion. Got up one time to pee, and straight back to sleep until 12:45 PM. I needed that!
I am in the den with the Olympic "Open-Mouthed-Sleeping" Team. Nannie is talking in her sleep (nonsensical) and hubby put in his 02 nasal prongs, then he was a goner (Not even snoring!)
Time for me to put Nannie's wash in the dryer and start another load of our stuff.
Hubby sat down with me this morning and said, "I did drink this morning so I didn't take that capsule" (Librium). Funny that he can't remember the name "Librium" -- he most often comes up with "Lithium" ....Not quite the same thing! He said his plan was to drink today, and maybe tomorrow, which would use up his current at-home supply of Vodka, and then restart the Librium taper on Saturday morning. So, I guess we will see.
Anyway, my mood is better. I've got some chores to do, which I am approaching in a desultory manner.( I LIKE that word:"desultory"!)
Will be back here later on...
Stars, glad your mood is better. That's half the battle. And be desultory as much as you need to be. Your patience is admirable. I laughed about Nannie asking where she could sit. Gma does that all the time. There's a recliner JUST FOR HER. OK, sometimes we have to kick a dog out of it first... ?
Joe, sorry about your dad's apartment. Hope he finds something even better.
Tweety, hope the dogs are still doing well. I would have wanted to find out why all that blood as well. Pretty alarming. I did just renew a warranty on our dishwasher. I figured with our luck it might be smart.
dianah, Disneyland sounds like a good day.
So, I got home from Boston last night. Sunday afternoon I took the time to do my own little walking tour. I went to the Public Garden and saw the "Make Way for Ducklings" statues (it was one of my very favorite books as a preschooler). Walked around the Commons, and traveled a bit of the Freedom Trail (saw the Granary Burying Grounds). My phone died so I had to find a Starbucks where I could charge my phone so that I could find the way back to the hotel. A few years ago, I had some problems with my right ankle that the ortho doc called "posterior tibial tendon dysfunction". Ended up wearing a custom orthotic ($$$) for a long time. I also was a "lost to follow-up" patient because at one point I stopped going back. I mean, I was working nights, 50 miles from home in one direction, and didn't want to go to doctor appointments 35 miles in another direction on my days off, and then there was Covid... there's no excuse really but I was doing fine. ANYWAY, my left ankle has been a little achy for a few weeks and walking (in flip-flops, because I'm stupid) through the airport on Saturday and to dinner on Saturday, then around the city on Sunday (this time in canvas flats) and then to dinner on Sunday left me with a very sore, swollen ankle as well as aching calf muscles. I had a hard time keeping up with my colleagues walking to/from/around the conference. It's still swelling after being on my feet. I guess I need to visit an ortho. Don't know whether to swallow my pride and go back to the original one or find someone closer to home.
The conference was good. Some sessions better than others. We had a social event at Fenway Park Monday night. On Tuesday night, a few of us went to the ballgame there and saw the Red Sox play the Yankees. It was tied 4-4 at the end of the ninth inning. Yankees won 7-6 after the tenth. That tenth inning finally gave us some real baseball to watch. The rest of the game, there were very few base hits, mostly home runs and high fly balls that resulted in outs. Hubs says "that's the new baseball". I sent him a picture from our seats (great seats for cheap last-minute tix) and he replied "I hate you". ?
Now I'm back to the world of unhappy patients and families, not enough staff. It seems that unhappy patients and families make staff grumpy and having grumpy staff leads to unhappy patients and families. chicken : egg
Last time I was in Boston/Cambridge was ???? I dunno! The mid 70's? I bet I could probably still find my way around on public transportation. I hadn't even gotten my driver's license when I lived there; in fact I got it after I moved out. Got my driver's license, bought a 2nd hand Chevy, and moved to Danvers, Mass. all in the same week, two weeks before my 25th b'day.
Blessings on us: Nannie went to bed at 8 PM for two nights in a row!
Right now hubby and I are watching Braves vs Giants. // Ado- Tell your hubby I know what he means about "the new baseball"; I hate watching a game that we call "A Pitcher's Game". It usually isn't until toward the end of, or AT the end of the game, that it starts being a baseball game. I want base hits and activity in the outfield! Right now the game is 1-1 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Blah and meh! //UH-OH! Be careful what I wish for! The 'activity' is being had by the Giants; they are ahead 2-1, now. I have a feeling I'll be gone upstairs to my bedroom to read instead of staying with the game.
The other daughter-in-law made her quarterly visit to Nannie. Brought her a grocery-store birthday cake (she has ALWAYS done home-made, previously.) She brought her daughter and her daughter's daughter and they stayed all of 20 minutes. Obligation met. Not that Nannie will remember; she's more delighted about having cake!
I snidely confess I love it when Nannie says, about the other DiL after she leaves, "Who was that old man?" ? DiL is very skinny and has blonde-going-gray with pretty short hair. When I met her she was BUXOM and had a lot of long, curly hair, and that's what Nannie remembers about her, and why she thinks she is a man when she sees her now.

Stars it's good that you're there to help with with his follow up and discharge instructions, I have a feeling he would be lost otherwise. Hopefully he will decide to start the librium again. Hope you can find an Al-Anon meeting
Dianah glad you were able to make it to Disneyland
NJ22 glad the doctor is moving quickly on that
Hi Tweety
Decent day at work, a little busier than expected but not bad. Hoping today is a little slower
Finally heard back from the GI doc, the colonoscopy is finally scheduled, for December. Have the prep instructions, don't seem too bad. Glad it's scheduled but will also be glad when it's done
Another fairly quiet night. J is doing better, hopefully the pollen is decreasing
Tonight have grocery shopping, then a vestry meeting. Which was going to be in person but now virtual due to someone having Covid. Kinda like in person meetings but virtual is less time consuming
Going to be in the low 80s today, might have to use the AC for the first time since Monday
