Good morning!
Stars glad your getting some home improvements and help cleaning! Send her my way.
I got a message a book I ordered is delayed by a supply chain issue caused by the tarrifs, but I got offered a free book. I have plenty to read until they arrive. Will try to read more and stay off the phone. With a goal of one a month.
Visit home is going okay. Mom's dementia is worse but not too bad. My brother is stopping by. Dad has a orthopedic appointment tobget a *** and I might take him. He's frail and hard of hearing but sharp mentally as ever.
Have a great day.
If I say "Guess what?!" you ALL will know what I am about to say! Got a call from SiL that started, "I'm so sorry...."
But you can't make this stuff up, and it is not Chatty CG's 'fault'......but she will not be coming today because her dad had a stroke last night. And next week is her birthday, so she won't be coming then, either. Yes, I feel terrible for her dad but I am feeling pretty bent out of shape for myself, nevertheless. SiL offers that IF this can't work out "we'll just get somebody else." Wonder when that might be? SiL can't help today unless I want her to come get Nannie around 4 PM for an hour or two, after she gets off work. I said, "Naw, don't bother."
I can do some of my laundry, but I will leave stripping and remaking the bed linens for another time, because....
The pains this AM in my lower back, hips, knees, shoulders, elbows and my right hand, are not impressed by my medications today, so I am kind of pouting and groaning, clenching my jaw and trying to find ONE comfortable position, even if it only lasts a brief moment.
So, lah-dee-dah, lah-dee-dah.
Hello all!
No Stars, I'm sorry your pains are resisting control, AND that CCG is so unreliable. I hope y'all decide SOON to get someone else. Yeah, today is a laundry day for sure, for all Nannie's stuff! Does the washer no longer leak?? (were the workers able to fix it yesterday?) I hope that some time today there will be a little bright spot or humor, SOME-where, for you!
Tweety, I hope your dad's appointment goes well. It's hard to see your parents age.
Joe, stay safe in the storms! Looking forward to hearing about the zoo trip on Sunday!
I am going to The Big Church's Spring Concert this Saturday afternoon, with a friend. I know several ppl in the choir (and probably a couple in the orchestra), and their programs are always good. I'm looking forward to it!
Sunday we have band practice. Our bass player is in two other bands, and their appointments are filling up fast, so he is less and less available to practice with us. Our only upcoming appointment is at the August festival in Vista. So we will work on getting a set list for that, and practicing when we can.
I paid some bills. Last night I made our soup, so we are set for the next few days' suppers. Not much else going on here!
Have a good day/evening!
The plumbers cleared out about 80 feet of clogged drain pipe, which was riddled with tree roots and solidified mud, and now the washer is behaving a LITTLE better, but IF it still leaks, (which it hasn't during today's laundering) we have a plethora of towels to sop anything up. They are supposed to return (maybe next Tuesday) to finish the roto-routering, and then will dig a trench to accommodate a 3" pipe, attach it and then bury it and let it drain out into the deep trench in the woods beside the house where it used to drain. Apparently we have a septic system which the washer is NOT hooked to; the city/county gave us waterlines but no sewer lines. I remember now that when we moved here, I was very careful to not overload the septic system, because once before, when my FiL was still alive, he had to dig a trench and put in a new septic tank, all the way down in the bottom of the back-est part of the back yard after the first septic tank overflowed into the middle of back yard. That sounds confusing, doesn't it? Anyway, anyway, anyway.....
I have deboned a rotisserie chicken after I boiled it down to make for easy separating of skin, bones and other inedible parts. Now I have a nice (strained) broth to return the chicken pieces to, and will add some brown and wild rice to it. Comfort food for me! Nannie will get to eat the meal SiL dropped off yesterday. I ate the smaller (meant for Nannie) helpings yesterday, of the meatloaf, potatoes and green beans and asparagus. It was good, but Nannie said yesterday she just wasn't very hungry, so she had half a meatloaf sandwich and a bowl of fruit. Today I will reheat the rest of her meal and serve it to her BEFORE I put ANY desserts on her tray!
Welp, the last of my (clothes) laundry is in the dryer now. Nannie's bedding is ready to go back on her bed, but I just don't feel up to remaking her bed just yet. Believe it or not she only has two sets of sheets and one of them is so old the stretchy corners are all stretched out, so I never use them. When I told SiL that Nannie needed a blanket that covers her bed (she had been using the cotton twin-sized hospital blankets that had come home with someone when they were discharged), SiL gave me a HUMONGOUS heavy blanket made for ? a King-sized bed? 🙄 It hangs over the far side of the mattress where nobody walks or sees it. Anyway, there are no alternate choices which is why I end up doing her laundry so often. Would it be too easy to go purchase two sets of double-bed size sheets and two blankets? I am not in charge of Nannie's wallet or checkbook anymore, so all I can do is suggest things. All it would do for me is allow me one day between bedding washes.
I don't feel like I am making a heck of a lot of sense today, so I'm off here, unless something really remarkable happens, and I HAFTA tell y'all about it!. One of these days I will feel better, when the gypsies go elsewhere, and I have $$$ in my wallet, and some reasonable and REAL time OFF-DUTY! I really don't think that is too much to ask for, but......
I do think it would make a lot of sense to purchase another set or two of sheets and blankets so that (bedding) laundry doesn't have to be an every day thing.
The guys are getting grilled pork chops tonight, which they will probably grumble about, but I bought them so we are going to use them.
I did not sleep well last night. The last time I looked at the clock it was about 3:30 and I hadn't slept. Will cut myself off caffeine for the evening and see if that helps. The hospital was a busy place yesterday and today plus I had to report our flu vaccines rates to NHSN. There are no electronic records and I basically have to dig through paper folders on each employee to find out whether they were vaccinated for this flu season. If I were in charge of the records, this is not how it would work. But I don't want to be "in charge" of them, so there's that. And even worse is trying to track down the volunteers' records. At least the school has to provide all the relevant data for the nursing students, and they do it in an Excel spreadsheet.
Hubs complained of lower back pain again yesterday and last night. He said all he did was vacuum (including moving furniture). I haven't heard from him today if he is feeling better.
I keep forgetting to get refills of the cat's meds. Forgot again today. I took my coat to the dry cleaner since we are finally past the point where I'll need it again any time soon. It's ready to pick up. So I guess I have some errands to run tomorrow.

Tweety glad the drive down was good
Stars I hope they do figure out what is wrong with the washer
Dianah I made soup this week too, a lentil chickpea soup
NJ22 that's cool you saw a hummingbird, don't see them much around here
Work was busier than expected yesterday, a new case and quite a few new documents. Was rather quiet it the morning so I took it slow, which might have contributed to the afternoon being busier
Rest of the day was pretty quiet, just exercised
Today hopefully will be quieter at work. Shouldn't be much going on after work, no Zoom meeting tonight. Going to the zoo with the over 50 group on Sunday, will probably check out what there is to do there so I can present the various options when we meet
Will be unusually warm today, up to 90 degrees, storms expected, some may be strong or severe
