Good morning.
I was soooo tired yesterday. When we got home, I ate the teriyaki we picked up, showered and crawled into be at 8. I volunteered at the demo gardens in the morning, then planted some impatiens in my yard, then went to dd's house and did some weeding. Today I have to drive to Seattle for an echo and a doctor appointment, to get my meds renewed. yuck.
I looked up natto, too. Yeah, I think I'll pass.
Joe, that sounds like frustrating experience on the phone. Don't let that adjuster get to you. But yeah, a professional phone call wouldn't be unreasonable. Although my sarcastic self would likely reveal itself. Gosh, I'm glad I don't get paid to make calls anymore.
Ooh, rye bread sounds really good right now. I used to work at a Safeway bakery and they made this bread called "poppin rye" that was sooo good just lightly toasted with a little butter.
The dog is pestering me to go for our walk and I'll go for a short jog too. I was going to mow sis's yard, but I won't have time to do that, and clean up for appointment. Tomorrow, I guess.
Geez, I slept and slept and slept! Not complaining, but it was 1:30 before I got Nannie up and dressed. I was going to make her a sandwich but we have no bread. And the cold-cuts have been in the refrig for about three weeks and since they were dried around the edges (cheese slices) and kind of slimy looking (ham slices), I better stock up on those, too. I wish 'someone' would seal the opened packages so they don't let air in!
The house is a rippin-frippin' MESS! I mean stuff heaped on the table and counters, and I have to clean out the fridge because there are a lot of un-used leftovers to pitch out, and spilled stuff. ARGH! The floors are gross.
I decided last night I was going to start setting my alarm clock to get up earlier in order to have time to do some serious cleaning. But, I did not set my alarm, and thus I slept on....Oh well, at least I feel well rested!
I am going to finish my coffee and head out to the store.
Wanna hear another good one? Hubby is worried about me, because often-times when he and Nannie want to eat earlier than I do, I say I will eat later. Sometimes I do frozen, sometimes I do left-overs, sometimes I make a sandwich. I told him that when I have been running around doing errands I have to rest and cool-down before I eat. Or if I am not hungry and nothing here appeals to me, I wait until I go up to read, and bring some snacks up there with me....the banana, milk, and popcorn, or whatever....I am not shrinking away, and all my blood-work from yesterday is WNL..
I told him that HE was the one he should worrying about! He isn't taking his multi-vitamins, and I don't know about the rest of the stuff (B1 and B-something-else) I said, once again, that the reason the doctor prescribed them is because he NEEDS them, being an alcoholic, having diabeties and all the other stuff that is wrong with his innards. "I can't tell any difference." Well vitamins are not drugs, per se, and they won't "hit you" like other drugs might, but you aren't doing yourself any favors by skipping them, and it won't save you any $$ by skipping them. Honestly, this is ridiculous.
I got all kinds of praise from the PCP yesterday. He said I was a lot more patient about hubby's foibles than he or anyone else would be. Also, I'm keeping myself healthy by seeking help when I need it. He said my brother was right, calling me a saint. ? (I really don't feel particularly 'saintly') He says he wishes he could do more to help me; and he's sorry that there is no Magic Pill to straighten hubby out. I'd settle for winning the lottery instead of getting a magic pill.
Hubby told me, when I asked how he slept last night, that he slept really well. He said he had taken a 1 mg. tablet of Xanax and a snort of vodka, and it did make him sleepy. (Well, wowwie-zowwie baby!) You can guarantee he is all for getting buzzed over anything else. This is going to be a long haul, and fortunately I have been able --- a little more than some of the time --- to get some emotional distance again by "putting him in God's hands".
No baseball games tonight. Tomorrow it is supposed to be a game on one of the Disney+ channels, but maybe it is also on another channel, we'll have to see. I have my stack of crossword puzzles and a few magazines beside me, to ??? "help me make it through the night..."
Not to be outdone, I looked up natto, too, and they lost me with describing its texture as sticky and slimy.
Hubs bought a refurbished Roomba and he's quite pleased with the results, keeping the pet hair better controlled without having to push around the vacuum cleaner.
That's the excitement 'round here. Did I tell that I fell in the parking lot at work and skinned my knee? Ruined a perfectly good pair of pants, too.
Good evening.
I'm beginning to dread Thursdays. So many discharges and admissions going on. At one point we had six patients on the way.
Joe, he's just not that into you even as a friend and you owe him no loyalty.
Ado, glad you didn't hurt yourself too bad.
Stars, you do put up with a lot even if you aren't a saint. Tackle the house a little at a time because it sounds overwhelming. Get one thing accomplished. Set a goal even if it's only "I'll clean this table for the next five minutes" and get it done.
I've never understood people that say "I can't eat that I don't like the texture". There are a lot of "texture eaters" I know but I'm not like that. Natto is indeed slimy. But people eat slimy okra (shudder). Kind of like Vegemite, which I love, natto is a weird taste you either like or not. It's widely eaten in Japan.
Ah, home from driving to and from Seattle. Traffic wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Echo was basically unchanged. My bp was high, 150/70, but it hangs at 100/70 at home. No change in meds, except they want me to take another course of doxycycline, cuz the puncture site that was infected has started to ooze again. Bah. Anyway, yearly visit done.
Do I eat anything slimy? Do ramen noodles count? I don't do oysters, especially not raw. I've never had okra, that I know of. I won't eat runny eggs, most because of my public health background. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to trying natto, but I can't say it sounds tempting.
Annie, I've done that to pants. It really hurts if you have to pull the fabric out of the wound.
I sometimes wish a had a little Xanax for md visits.

Tweety I've heard of natto, but did not find the description appealing
Stars hope the appointment went well
Dianah I hope his back recovers quickly
Work was unfortunately crazy again. Had another fairly long call with the manic patient, thankfully he's being transferred to a field case manager so I won't have to deal with him much longer. The unpleasant adjuster snapped at me because she mis-read my notes. Told my supervisor and sent a polite email that corrected he mis-interpretation. It was suggested I might want to call her as well just to make sure things are settled. I will do so but I'm not sure it will make any difference
After work was not too bad, though I did have to leave a bit late. Got the grocery shopping done, went for a walk, and then went to church for the vestry meeting. Will be glad when I'm done with that in a few months
J texted that he hasn't been feeling well all week and that we shouldn't try to get together this week. Guess we'll try for next week, although he is really trying my patience
Today the social group is doing a live music event nearby, will go and see how it is
Will be warmer today, in the mid 70s
