Hi. Bad things come in 3s, right?
Sis fell yesterday, got tripped by her cat, and laid on the floor for an hour and a half, until a neighbor heard her calling out. She has a badly fractured femur. It will need surgery, but she is on a blood thinner, but they have to wait until Friday for it to taper off. I hope she gets good pain control. I wasn't impressed by the admitting doc, so I hope her room is on the floor with experienced ortho nurses who will advocate for her. Tweety, I may pick for your brain for this.
I have a dentist appointment today, then will go see Sis. And I promised youngest grandson I will help him him bake some rainbow brownies for his new club, the gay-straight alliance at his school.
Dog looks slightly better, but still moving very slow. Is he short of breath, is he in pain? At least he seems to be resting better.
Good Afternoon~
Did my usual bank, post office, drugstore, grocery store errands. Oh, and now that I think of it, I had to wash Nannie's soaking wet sheets, blankets, and bedspread, from where she sat her already wet butt on the top of the already made bed, so I better go put them in the dryer. Be back in a minute...
More than a minute, actually. I took the trash out to the barrel to go to the street for pick-up tomorrow, and lo and behold there were 8 empty little vodka bottles below the front porch's shrubbery. Had to get the grabber to reach them, and bending over even using the grabber, it was a stretch. I squatted down and then fell on my knees and then my butt. I told you-know-who: "NO MORE tossing vodka bottles into the shrubbery!" GADS! If he was a sober man and not a *#@&%# 'alkiehaulick', and he saw someone else had done that....there would be heck to pay. Now when I say, "Quit tossing those bottles into the shrubs; they don't just 'disappear'....they can easily be seen from the front walk." ... he responded, "oh. OK." ?
It is very hot and sweaty out there...92 degrees. UGH! I guess it will be frozen dinners for supper tonight, because he is too slurring and wobbly to drive to get some take-out, and I am tired of doing E-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g, as if I'm the Mommy-person. That grinds my patoot . Especially when he says (like he just did:) "When you decide it's time, you can put one of those 'big-man' dinners in the microwave, and let me know when it's ready." HAH! He is just as spoiled as he complains his mother is. He gets so out of breath and walks wonky when drunk, so I understand WHY he needs help. I do it because I am sick and tired of the falling that would occur did I not assist him....BUT! Jeezo-Cripes!
Maybe I should go on strike?
Yesterday when I put my new vacuum cleaner to use, he started giving me grief about it: "Why did you go out and get that thing? It's the same thing as the ones we already have." Well, one doesn't work, and neither does the other one. They are like trying to carry around a couple of cinderblocks, and one of them leaves streaks of fine dirt behind while in use. He even said the one I got is "just the same as the other one we have" No, I didn't buy a monstrous Kenmore or an old broken down Bissell. I told him that *I* was the one who had to haul around that behemoth to vacuum, because even whenever he says he will vacuum... he doesn't. So *I* deserve something I can use without causing various joints and muscles to hurt. I also reminded him that just 3 days ago he told me that if there was something I needed, to just use Nannie's checking acct. and get it. Well, he said he was talking about if I needed to buy smaller bluejeans. But I thought buying an eight-pound easy-to-carry $48 vacuum cleaner isn't like I was flagrantly tossing her money around. And it was more necessary than any bluejeans right now. This house hasn't been vacuumed (except for a brief run across the rug in the den) for at least SEVERAL months, and I was getting sick of looking at the Crud On The Rug.
He finally took care of getting his prescribed medicines (ie had the doc's office call them in for refills.) But I had to get them from the pharmacy, and he can't figure out how to use the mediset? ? Um, it's easy....like: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. DUH! If we had an emoji of someone picking their nose, I would use it right here!
And please, no lectures about this, because I already know it's a terrible thing, but I have started smoking again. I figure maybe it is moderately better than taking even more Xanax every day. The doc had, at my last appt, said that I might want to think of upping the frequency of it, but I said NAH! I don't want any more Xanax. Anyway I am not smoking a LOT....less than half a pack a day. And I hear that stopping Xanax after being on it for a long time, is a REAL beeyotch. I know, I know, so is Nicotine detox. But it is better to smoke a few cigarettes than getting into a screaming, useless fight and feeling like whacking someone. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Okay, time to feed the baby-people in this house.
G'day.
J22, sorry to hear about your sister. I'm sure they won't meet your very high standards. LOL
Stars, you can't rationalize the fact that you're smoking. I won't lecture you because you know you're wrong.
Work was extremely busy. We had a tech from another floor sit with a suicide watch patient. When he was discharged to a psych facility, I asked her to work the floor. Not long after she said she had a family situation and had to live. I'm glad I still have somewhat of a filter because I want my job but I wanted to say BS you lying ho...how to you sleep at night doing this to us.
Humph
I just got home from seeing sis and watching her suffer is tough. She's been in the same position since last night as she can't tolerate moving. Even though the doc last night said she should be on oral meds (oxycodone and acetaminophen) , she's only been getting IV morphine, about every 4 hours. Her pain is 7-9/10. Surgery won't be until tomorrow afternoon. They've had to do in and out caths cause she can't pee. BMs are going to be a nightmare.
Stars, I don't think smoking is great, but you have to deal with the stress somehow. And I have news for your hubby. Jeans can easily cost as much as a vacuum. Just sayin'.
Tweety, I have to say the techs I interacted today were exemplary. I used to work with one who only worked as a sitter, and she refused to take vitals. She would put up a huge stink if no one relieved her for her breaks right on time. She filled out many a complaint about me, because I didn't make the other techs drop what they were doing to give "Mary" her break.
My boss and I drove 180 miles to another affiliate hospital of the mothership, in northwestern OK. Interesting visit but a long drive. Then headed home to try to beat the expected storms. There were warnings of "DVD-sized hail" (?) and 80 mph winds. At our house we've had only thunder/lightning/rain. Yay.
J22, I am sorry about your sister. How painful. The oral meds would probably give more long-lasting relief with the IV meds for break-through pain but you've got to get to a reasonably comfortable state for that to work. I hope there's no rhabdo from the injury + lying on the floor for that long?
Twin B decided to make bacon-wrapped pepper poppers with our garden peppers (and some store-bought jalapeños). Very tasty.
The cat is really comfortable in my lap but I think I should disturb her and go to bed.

Tweety I think I need to address the anxiety before doing any planning
NJ22 that is hard news, I hope the medication eases his symptoms
Stars the new vacuum will certainly help. I had an old one for a long time and it was so heavy
Londonflo my uncle was in the antiques business for quite some time
Hi Ado
Work was still pretty good yesterday, not sure how long this trend will continue. Had my bimonthly review and it went well. Wonder if anticipation of it was causing some of the anxiety
After work did the grocery shopping and had time to exercise before the vestry meeting. Will be glad when I am done with those, important business but tedious
Today have counseling during lunch. Tonight should be pretty quiet, just going to exercise and do laundry
Finally heard back from the vet, thyroid levels are normal and she doesn't have to follow up for 6 or 12 months
Going to be warmer today, in the mid 80s. Has been unusually cool and dry most of this June
