Joe, I'm sure it's nice to get back to the familiar surroundings and predictable routine. How would your family react to your organizing a walk in a park, or some other outdoors area, where they could still talk, but be moving? I'm sure not all would want to (or be able to) participate. Just a thought. 🙂
We vetoed going to the lake today, as it will be 106 degrees here, and dh didn't really want to drive in those hot temperatures. So we will, as always, hunker down at home in the air conditioning. I will lift some weights and probably go on the elliptical, sometime during the day.
I got more strawberries and also bought some whipped cream, so we will enjoy those! Simple pleasures...
Have a good day!
Hello. Today has been another mild day. Starts off cool in the am, until the marine layer of clouds burn off, and then we have soft sunshine with a breeze. Actually, this last week has been much more typical of our usual summers. The past few years have been either scorching hot or smoky, or both. Does "soft sunshine" make sense? The sun is out, feels warm, but not overly bright or hot. And we had a few sprinkles of rain, but not enough to wet anything.
I accompanied oldest sis to her pulmonology consult today to get the results of her scans. Mostly good news. The cancer seems localized to one lung and one hilar lymph node. Because it is located on her R bronchus removal would entail removing her entire lung, so radiation and chemo are the plan. She told the pulmonologist of our mother's unpleasant experience with cancer treatment 24 years ago. Of course treatment has advanced so much, so that re-assurement was offered. Sis is finally convinced that using the online portal is safe (she was worried that nerfarious people would steal her info) and has consented to use it to email with doc. And she is under orders to gain weight! She has been anorexic for years. She weighed 79 lbs at the hospital 3 wks ago, and is now all the way up to 90! Tomorrow we are going to see the oncology radiologist, and the medical oncologist next week.
I am planning to make spaghetti for dinner, but need to get some fresh mushrooms and bread to make garlic bread.
G'day!
Wow J22, that sure is skinny. I hope her treatment goes well.
I think there's a time in all aging families where they might want to go to dinner, but otherwise it's sit around and talk. That certainly how it is my family. But we do play games like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or put together puzzles.
I worked today and didn't notice that my tea had spilled in my bag and leaked from me entering the hospital all the down the hall and to my unit. I cleaned it up and whenI got to the ER where I enter the housekeeper was thinking it was blood. (Hibiscus tea). Not a good start to the day. I worked the floor and had a good day. Tomorrow's charge nurse called off and I have to do charge tomorrow. I've also been drafted to do some competencies during annual competency. I would have been nice to have been asked.

Hi Tweety
Stars that sounds like it might cut down on the laundry a bit
Dianah seems like you're having an awful lot of hot days there
Ado adapting to new devices is a lot of work
Work was not as bad as I had expected. Plenty of emails, though I expected at least twice as many. And nothing that I had to do for the person who was off. Started 45 minutes early and but didn't get to leave early, but got it all done without getting too crazy, despite getting a new case
Rest of the day was pretty ordinary, stopped at the store and exercised. Was surprisingly pleasing to get back into my usual stuff after the vacation
Today should be a quieter day at work, unless something unexpected comes up.
Going to be another cooler day in the upper 70s
