Welp, I woke up still breathing today, so here I am.
93 degrees feels like 103 degrees, and no rain predicted.
Soon will be time to start Nannie's day. w00t? I would actually prefer to sit here on the sofa and go back to sleep. Yah, but who cares about my preferences?
Speaking of "w00t!", Tweety, that was a gooooood thing to get a nice refund from IRS.
That's all, folks.
G'day!
Technically wasn't a refund but a return of an overpayment. I still wound up paying nut only $150 instead of the $1100. Was a relief to get that back.
We were short a nurse but thankfully got one floated to us. Will busy.
Looks like they are starting on best friend's drywall today all these months later. Then a couple more months of remodeling.
Off tomorrow but it's going to be raining so I'll stay at home
Hello all!
Whoa, Tweety, it is sure GOOD to hear of progress being made on your friend's condo, AFTER ALL THIS TIME! Maybe in, say, three months he will be able to move in?? Hope so! And, I hope work goes smoothly for you.
No Stars, I hope the aches and pains recede, and Nannie naps A LOT today.
Hello Joe, enjoy Happy Hour!
Nothin' planned for today, except a run to the grocery store for salad fixin's and some other things. We were invited to do some music for the local Christian TV station, in September. Dh accepted, and we need to decide on the two songs we will do. We have another two band practices (at least) to do, before our gospel program at the bluegrass festival in August.
Temp should still be in the mid-90's today, humidity 25% or so. The usual. It looks like the eaglets have dispersed, they have not been sighted since June 27 or so. I hope they do well; they got a good, solid start with Jackie and Shadow as parents. They sure have a lot of ppl rooting for them. I signed an online petition to stop the fireworks in the lake area (they usually hold them on a barge on the lake). I hear that, in spite of many thousands of signatures on the petition, TPTB are going ahead with the 4th fireworks as scheduled. Sad, for animals and for humans who are impacted by the loud noises and brou-ha-ha. I can't think about it, it makes me irritated and I am helpless to do anything more about it. Ppl are heartless and selfish sometimes.
Well, I better make my grocery run, then fix my salad for lunch. We are watching Beyond Paradise, a spinoff of Death In Paradise murder mystery series. The original is set in an island in the Caribbean, while the spinoff is set on the Devon coast of England.
Have a good day!
Tweety, that's good that the work on your friend's condo is finally under way.
Joe, hope the happy hour is fun.
So, what's the status of Chatty CG?
dianah, I feel kind of bad for the animals affected by the fireworks displays. Our lake has ducks, geese, the occasional heron, and other birds. The ducks and geese are audibly distressed by the fireworks. I'm sure other creatures are distressed but just don't make so much noise about it.
With the rain last Friday, we have officially recorded more rain in the first 6 months of 2025 than we usually do in a full year. And it rained more today. I said the other day this is the rainiest Summer in Oklahoma that I remember. We have no plans for the 4th except I guess we should cook out. Twin B, of course, will be working tomorrow night.
The church had a family movie night last night and I went just because I want to be supportive. We watched Pollyanna. I actually had never watched it before so thought it was fun.
SiL called me and said she was going to come over and get Nannie, to take her to get her nails re-done. *I* said, "No, please don't," because Nannie was conked out. So SiL came over and sprayed weed killer, but never came in the house. Later I went out and swept up the mess she left on the front walk. There was also a little TREE that planted itself in front of the hedge, but she left that. I guess I will go out tomorrow and cut down all the little trees (7 or 8 of them!) that are trying to take over the hedge. Maybe she and BiL are afraid there might be snakes and/or spiders in the hedge? I don't know. But although I don't 'do' outside work, I am the only one (since hubby passed) who ever cuts those down. Of course they re-grow because I can't get their roots, though I thought once of getting a syringe with clorox in it to puncture the remainder of the tree stem I couldn't get pulled out. I THINK that'd work, anyway. But, a moot point, since the hedge is so dense, it'd be hard to get in to 'dose' those roots.
Nannie went back to sleep after supper. I'll wake her up in a short while. Yesterday when I had to be loud about waking her up, and it made her mad. I suppose I could make her go to bed earlier, but when I used to do that, she would be up again after a little while, thinking that it must be morning. She'd get up and make her bed, which irritated me no end.
Now I irritate her, and put her to bed! 😊 It is more satisfactory for me that way. 😋
