Congratulations on the job offer, Tweety. At the very least, it is affirming that they offered it to you.
That soup sounds like something I would like, dianah, but I'm afraid Hubs would not even be willing to try it. The boys made chili for dinner last night for Hubs' birthday. (he was kind of jealous when I made it to take to work the other day and we didn't have any at home). They also made brownies (from a mix) with added chocolate chips.
I need to bake cookies tonight for a funeral dinner at the church tomorrow. Tomorrow evening the book club meets. Saturday is a church leadership team meeting. A bit more "scheduled" than my usual weekends.
I lack self-discipline, and that shows up in my late bedtimes and my struggles with mornings. I am determined to do some writing this year, though, and if the only time I can find to do it is early mornings, I might just develop that habit. Have some coffee and write in my journal. Years ago, Hubs and I would watch GMA in the mornings. Have not done so in a long time. His TV watching is mostly YouTube videos about car and boat repair and maintenance. Or politics. I probably don't even want to know what he's watching in the political realm. He does binge-watch some series, especially sci-fi stuff. And of course basketball and football.
I didn't get home until 5:50 PM this afternoon! I went out to pay a bill at the bank (a late one; and I doubled it!) I dropped books off at the library, but didn't take any out because I was b-a-d on Monday, and bought several paperbacks at the grocery store.
But what chewed up the remainder of this afternoon was that I went into a Flea Market building I have been meaning to go to for about 8 years, and I finally got to do so! WOW! I had been looking online for the kind of bookcase I want for my bedside, but alas they were pretty pricey. And in the flea mkt I found just exactly the kind I wanted and it was only $15! A sign on it said: "Price is FIRM". Well, heck, I could afford the $15 so I went ahead and paid for it and the clerk labeled it and went to clear off the things that were on it. BiL is going to pick it up for me tomorrow and take it home and spray-paint it white for me, then bring it over here. I have had some of those little square cheapo shelves like boxes that fit together. I have had them a L-O-N-G time and they are pretty ricketty! Now when BiL brings the "new" sturdier bookcase over here, I can toss the stackable boxes in the trailer for BiL to take to the dump. YAY! That building was just a one floor warehouse-looking place with people's sections all around the edges and center....mah gawd, I actually got LOST in there, but I kept wandering around; it was fun! I'd like to go back there in the Spring and shop around some more. They had VERY reasonable prices, which surprised me. There was one used-furniture store I went into a number of years ago and WOW, the prices were out of this world and through the roof; needless to say I bought nothing there!
And speaking of payments....I went by the funeral/cremation place to pay some more on my bill. which I believe was down to around $500. I was going to pay another $150 today, but after they searched a while for the folder, they found it and told me it had already been paid in full! I have NO idea who has been paying it, at $50/month, but as they used to say on Hee-Haw, "God Bless them REAL GOOD!" BiL said it wasn't him or SiL. If it had been on auto-pay from checking, it would've shown on my bank statement. BiL made a joke, told me with a totally straight face that my step-dgt had been paying on it, but then couldn't stop himself from laughing after I looked at him with my mouth open and my eyebrows raised. I said "Good one!" He thinks even less of her than I do.
Anyway, today was Chatty CG's last day with Nannie. She is usually available Thurs or Fri because she doesn't have her grand-dgt on those days, so she is available PRN with a little bit of notice. I wouldn't mind her being a regular; it is nice for me because I don't have to go out in rush hour to go get Nannie from the Sr Care Ctr. Oh well, at least there are two afternoons a week I can be sort of "off duty",
Meanwhile I need to bring all the trash and recycling out to the end of the driveway, so -----over and out!
Hello!
My, what an outing you had, NSIME! How fun to find something just perfect that you needed, AND it was reasonably priced! You will enjoy tossing the rickety system out! I am so glad you have two afternoons per week, all to yourself.
Ado, you have a busy schedule coming up! Dh and I usually have different TV program tastes.
I just got a load of laundry in the washer. When it is washed, I will toss another one in. I swept the entryway, as it was FULL of leaves, dirt, pine needles that were tossed there like salad, from the windy days. I also got a few things at the grocery store, so I can make that stew recipe again. This time, I will use yams rather than sweet potatoes. AND, I do have red lentils to use! I KNEW I had bought some the last time I was at the grocery store, but when I went to look for the new package, I Could. Not. Find. It! Looked all over the kitchen; dh went out to the car to look, as it may have fallen out of the grocery bag and into the trunk -- nope! Well, dh found the package of lentils today: in the CHEESE BIN in the fridge!! Apparently while I was putting groceries away, I felt the package, it felt like a cheese package, so I put it in the cheese bin/drawer! Oh well, at least the mystery is solved of where the lentils went! Now, the mystery of where my BRAIN went, that's another one needing to be solved!!
Winds aren't bad, so hopefully the firefighters can continue to gain control over the two largest fires, still burning near LA. Prayers continue.
Have a good evening!

Stars glad you will get a break today
TMB that's early even for me
Dianah that sounds like an interesting recipe
NJ22 I find I like the quiet of the morning too
Started and ended work late due to taking the car in for the oil change. Went fine, in the future I think I'll drop it off before they open so it will disrupt my schedule less. Work was pretty quiet as has been usual the last 2 weeks. Ran some errands after work
Nothing unusual planned for today, will look at some new dating apps after work
Going to be a good bit warmer today, in the upper 30s
