Dianah that sounds like a fun time

NJ22 that's great that retirement is so close

Stars glad that there were no falls this time

Tweety wish the temps here were like that

Ado given the weather it's understandable they'd cancel the service

Work was not quite as bad today, though at the very end of the day I got another new case.  Have quite a bit to do today so I hope I don't get any more

After work was very busy, as I wanted to get things done before the storm.  Stopped at the library and pharmacy,  then had the online meeting with the political group.

Then went to the blue Christmas service at church.  It was nice, only a half hour and a half dozen people.  Some music and readings and some prayers

Then to the grocery store to pick up some non-perishable food in case of a power loss, then to Menards to pick up a new humidifier.  The old one is acting up a bit and I'll need it with these very cold temps coming.

Nothing planned after work today or tomorrow, just going to stay in.  The snow and the winds are expected this afternoon, and sub zero temps by late tonight or this  morning

Hi, it’s cold still, supposed to warm up and snow tomorrow, then change to rain. I had a moment of panic when I got home last night because the house temp was down to 50 and the furnace was blowing cool air. Dh figured out how to reset the furnace and warmth returned. I’m alone at work today, expecting a few more TB tests to return for reading. One was positive yesterday so we want her to get a blood test to rule out an non-tb mycobacterium.
Joe, it sounds like you are getting a flurry of work! That sounded like  a nice service.
NoStars, seems like your hubby thinks the drinking is still secret or maybe he still won’t accept that he just has to quit.  I hope his glasses and noggin stay intact.
Tweety, no patients, that has to be a charge’s dream. Stay warm!

Dianah, that does sound like a fun visit and they will be lucky to have you. Are you or your hubby vets?
Annie, how did orientation go? Oof, looks like most of us are enduring dramatic temperature swings. One thing I remember about enduring below zero temps is how bumpy car rides were because springs and shocks get so stiff.

Turns out hubby had actually gone to McD's and sat in parking lot to eat. When he got home he could not find his iphone, so nothing would do but we drive over to McD's to look for the phone.(We called that McD's but the kid who answered said he could not go out to look for the phone "because it's raining." DUH!)  I do not drive well at night in the rain in an unfamiliar area, and hubby was just snockered enough to mix up his directions "left" and "right". It was an unpleasant drive to say the least. He directed me to drive around the building to where the trash can was where he thought he may have lost his phone, but no phone was there.

SO! This morning I had to get up and drive him back over there, and THIS time, he said to go to a trash bin on the opposite side of the McD's. And believe it or not, there was the phone on the ground where it had sat all night in the rain. I can't believe it hadn't been stolen! He dried it off with paper towels and I went to the grocery store and bought a bag of dried rice. The phone actually does work and he made several calls on it before we got home. Now it is in a baggie of dry rice, and on-line says 24 to 36 hours in the rice to allow all the moisture to be absorbed.

Now it is siesta time at Ye Olde Den's Recliners. While they sleep, I am washing Nannie's wet sheets. And that is my day in toto.

I have given up looking forward to anything that has to do with hubby's detox, rehab, or sobriety.

But, I did tell hubby that when or IF he EVER gets sober, I am turning Nannie's care over to him and/or whomever he wants to hire to help him, and *I* am going to take a few days off from beginning to end. I am so sick of having to do everything, and I especially dread that he may have another fall, and my nerves won't take it any more, PERIOD.

Well, THAT just sounds like a lovely day, Stars. Sorry.

Yep, it's 6 degrees out. A very light dusting of snow this morning and fierce-sounding wind but that's about it. Finally got some online shopping done for the littles in Indiana. Still have to come up with something for the older teens. They might just get cash.

Twin A just called to ask what I want for supper (meaning he would run out to get something, even though I do have food and meals planned). I guess since he is home this means the zoo closed even the drive-through lights this evening. They had planned to keep the drive-through portion open and close the walk-through.

G'day

I was a free charge with no patient assignment today.  We had a patient go bad on us...heart rate in the 30's.  Doctor said it was probably too much narcotics.  The nurse gave Percocet and morphine at the same time even though this clearly is not good practice, and against policy.  Policy states to wait one hour between narcotics.   But I also think other things might have been going on.  Yesterday a guy we sent to the unit with chest pains is on the vent.

Still warm temps but dropping dramatically tomorrow.
