I had to share with y'all my morning laugh. I got an email advertising a falls prevention workshop. It will feature, and I quote, "a panel of aging professionals from across Oklahoma." 🤣Hey, I'm an aging professional... but I don't have any special expertise when it comes to taking care of aging people. Well, *I* thought it was funny.
I make several trips to the grocery store in a week, too. I do try to plan but somehow there's always something.
We had heavy rain this morning but it is clear and calm for now.
Well, I am up and dressed, and will soon have to do the usual dishes, laundry and trash collecting that goes out into the bins tonight for tomorrow's pick up. I took Tinker out on her 'morning' walk. I need to get the Nannie-person up and dressed and get her breakfast and meds. New CG should be here around 1:30 PM. The excitement is quivering in my brain (not). But tomorrow I go to get my new hearing aids, and that IS exciting. But, I'm not quite sure what I will be doing while CG is here (until 6:30PM) today. There's plenty I could occupy myself with but I hope to get at least the 'Sacred Three' chores done.
The Senior center gave Nannie "a little birthday party" yesterday. When I picked her up she was stewing mad and I asked her why she was mad. She said she wasn't mad, but she didn't appreciate "some man" putting his hands under her arms. Apparently one of the guys in the room decided to help get her up out of her chair and standing at her rollator, and she fuzzed up in a VERY big way. Her party was forgotten for the most part, although we did go home with 2 balloons and an adult coloring book with a pack of colored pencils (which she won't use). But I really did like the tiara she had on which said "Aged To Perfection", however when I showed it to her she rolled her eyes, made a disgusted facial expression, and said she didn't want to wear it. So happy-quickly- forgotten-birthday, Nannie. Whoop-dee-do!
I do also have to clean and refill the "ant-proof" hummingbird feeder because it is empty of all their food mix, but contains a dozen medium size ants, who apparently did not read that proclamation on the box the feeder came in.
Nannie got coughing and kind of 'chokey' when she finished her supper. I asked if she would like a glass of water. Dumb question, I know. Her response was the usual, "Oh I hate for you to have to do that, honey." (...?...as in 'don't worry about me, I'll be okay'). Passive-Agressive? The Perfect Southern Lady who does not want to dis-accommodate anyone on her behalf. Ppfftt!
Maybe more later, I dunno. Hope y'all have a good day!
Laundry in progress; I combined two loads in one so I don't know if during the spin cycle it will go: "A-whump-a-whump-a-whump!" (That is the 'I'm Unbalanced' call.)
Also got ALL the dishes washed. ///-------I started to type 'my wishes doshed' 🙄
Have taken down and washed and refilled the hummingbird feeder, and when it has cooled sufficiently I will put it back outside.
Taking a brief break, then I'll get back to DOING instead of JUST TALKING about doing. Following YODA's advice today. I don't feel like going out because it is going to be up in the 🤨 90's today, so whatever errands I find I have to run, they will have to wait until tomorrow. Oh! That would be having my nails done....Oh! IF I have enough money, that is! SS check arrives in my account in 5 or 6 days, so I may wait 'til then.
There is a chance I may get to sign up for either a beginner's Tai-Chi class, or a Better Balance class at one of the two senior centers close enough to me here. Not sure of the cost; the classes run from Sept 27th to somewhere in mid-November. (*finger's crossed*) I could use better balance, for sure. Wonder if I'll need certain shoes or a workout 'outfit', or if I can just go as I am? We'll see what we see when we see it.
Hush, Stars, and get busy!
Hello all!
Any new appliance, Joe, is fun to get used to!
Ado, I thought that was funny, too! And I suppose I am one of those 'aging professionals,' however, retired for now!
No Stars, you have been busy! I hope CG arrived on schedule, and on time! Makes sense to wait to have nails done till the money appears. Your post reminded me I have linens in the dryer, waiting for me to remove them. Perhaps I'll do that today... Although today I want to make some dal, with red lentils. The recipe, with spices and coconut milk, sounds yummy.
Not much to report. It's supposed to rain today, and dh said it rained last night. Well, what he actually said was "the car was wet, so it must have rained last night."
Have a good afternoon and evening!
Tweety, I hope I haven't joined your "Uh-Oh! WHOOPS!" club, as I got up at 3 AM and didn't make it to the commode in time before I started exploding. I hate it when that happens! Who wants to wake up from a good sleep and then end up having to clean up the bathroom before going back to bed? ("NOT I," said the Little Red Hen!)
I am a liar, I guess, because beyond the laundry getting done (it is in the dryer) and the dishes, I have accomplished exactly NUTHIN! I kept scrolling on here, after I led you to believe I was going to get up and get busy. Instead, But, I remembered the beautiful Cobb salad I got yesterday before I went to pick up you-know-who at the you-know-where. Anyway, the salad is crisp and cold and delicious, so THAT is what I am doing: eating it! Late brunch or early supper....? Either one is an acceptable excuse to blow off anymore chores.
But, I will have to fold laundry later, so there's that. Oh, yeah, and put the trash out at the end of the driveway this evening. Hey WOW! That's 'The Sacred Three' right there! So I am not quite as slothful as I thought! Maybe if I don't tell y'all what I will be doing tomorrow.... oh, but I already have. Hmmm. "Never mind"--(Emily Latella)
Just got a text from SiL who said she will come get Nannie in the AM. Yippeeee! And I will go retrieve her in the afternoon, after I go get my new hearing aid.
Just one more thing=-----Nannie calls the AMERICA'S GOT TALENT program, "The Noisy Show". She's right, the dern audience can't hardly ever hush and it is hard to understand the folks trying to talk over the sound of the audience. The new hearing aids might help hearing with more clarity, but I think there will still be a lot of noise from the audience, regardless.
I now declare this:............................The End ! 🙃
On my way home from the doctors office. All is well, come back in a year. Too nice of a day to spend in a waiting room and in the car. Going to stop soon for a bite to eat, then home.
I've thought about tai chi, but felt the cost was too high. It does look cool.
I can't stand to wear my watch at night. It seems to catch on the bed clothes as I toss and turn.
I wish I could interest Dh into Indian food. I got him butter chicken once and he liked it. The last time we went to an Indian restaurant, he didn't read the description very well and got a very spicy dish. He has sworn off all Indian food.
Dh doesn't tolerate Indian food very well. This recipe is not very spicy, and he likes lentils, so he should be OK with it.
Glad you have a good health report, nurse j22!
I have thought about Tai chi. But it is more convenient (and cheaper) for me to do exercises at home with a few weights.
Dal is cooling on the stove. I did some housework, and now I am relaxing pre-supper with a cat on my lap.

NJ22 typically I like lighter beers with little hops, also not a fan of IPAs
Tweety I hope they can find a solution for your symptoms
Dianah glad you slept better
Turned out to be a very busy day at work. Got yet another new case, along with a bunch of documents and emails to review. Was pretty much busy the whole day, although it never got really crazy
After work was fairly busy too, stopped at the pet store, cleaned out the litter boxes, and exercised. Also got the new toaster oven set up
Today hopefully will be quieter at work. After work just have a hair cut and exercise
Going to be another warmer day in the upper 80s
