2 minutes after 12 noon~ so I can't say "Good Morning"!
It is going to be wicked-hot again today = 98 degrees with a feels like of 104 degrees, and 64% humidity.
I have to take the car to the dealership, but I can't remember why; I think it is for a tire rotation (?) and I do remember the guy saying "Let's do _______ before we do the tire rotation," but I don't remember what it was he said that about! Reckon I'll find out when I get there! And if I have to reschedule, that's fine.
It is Chatty CG's day today. The appt at the dealership is 3 PM. I will have to remember to get more yogurt for Nannie. Other than that, I dunno what else I might get into today, except it is also the day to gather all the trash and recycling to put the bins out by the street for pick-up tomorrow morning. Such a fascinating life I have.
I'm drinking my first coffee and trying to wake up. Tawk whichoo laydah---
G'morning. I've had a lovely jog about the neighborhood. Can you tell I've been watching the Great British Baking Show? It is the first day of school so I passed lots of kiddos with mums and dads. Luckily, it is a pleasant warm morning. I'm driving sis to Seattle in a little bit for a f/u with cardiology. Fingers crossed that traffic is light.
we had fresh green beans from the garden last night. Soooo good. There's some cauliflower ready, so I plan to pick that for tonight.
Dd sent me a photo of the grandsons walking to school this morning. They both hate getting their pictures taken, so it is their backs only in the photo, LOL.
dh isn't talking to me. He said he was going to take green beans to his mom. But apparently that meant I was supposed to pick them for him, and I didn't. So I guess I'm in the doghouse.
Hello all!
Congrats on the jog, nursej22. Too bad about the green beans misunderstanding...
Joe, you will know when to cease or pause therapy. You seem to have the necessary coping tools, tho we all need "outside interference" at times -- be it a therapist or spouse or perceptive friend.
Tweety, hope today is better at work.
No Stars, I hope Nannie napped today for ya! What did you decide to use as a routine bowel evacuation aid for her?
I could NOT sleep last night. So I read a book, in between sleep attempts. Took a nap around noon. After I woke and we had lunch, I got a load of laundry into the washer, and made the one-pot pasta, using low carb pasta. (Heh - autocorrect made it into one PIT pasta! We used to cook large quantities of corn on the cob in a pit that was lined with hot coals... Place the corn [each wrapped in foil] on top of the coals and cover with soil. Leave for a few hours, then uncover, remove corn from foil, and eat. But never pasta in a pit!)
Have a good evening!
Soooooo- I had an 'interesting' day. I started out to my 3 PM appt (it was to have the front brake pads replaced) and I thought I'd take a shortcut to the dealership WRONG! Note to self: Never assume you can take a shortcut here. I ended up in three different Counties, I kept thinking I'd see a sign for a certain road, or even for one of the Interstates, but I ended up waaaaay out in the countryside. I tried to orient myself by the position of the sun, but then I couldn't remember in which direction I needed to go. My mother always said Nashville and Asheville confused her, but I promise THIS PLACE is really, really the worst! Nothing is laid out in a way to make ANY sense!
Then the shift-change traffic and the school bus traffic and others gommed up the roads. I had NO idea where I was. I finally came to an intersection where there was a convenience store and went in for directions. Decided I just needed to head home, since it was already too late to make the appt on time. A very nice man (Pakistani) with a very thick accent gave me lengthy directions, then repeated them a second time. He kept telling me to take a left at a certain road, but he gestured to the right with his right hand. I headed out, thinking I could always stop at another convenience store, but I persisted and after a while, there were the roads and directions he told me about! Then I saw a sign for the town/city where I live and followed them to to downtown. Hallelujah! But I thought I'd stop at the PO parking lot to write some checks for bills I intended to pay. BUT when I parked, I suddenly realized that if I didn't get to a bathroom SOON I would've dirtied the driver's seat. I grabbed a plastic bag and pushed it under my butt and headed home.
I actually did make it in time to my bathroom; then I decided I could go out to mail off the checks tomorrow, but then I found out I should stay away from downtown because there's going to be a big Labor Day Parade. OY! Whatever! Mail won't go out until Tuesday, anyway. Ppfftt!
SiL called and said she was sorry, but she had told me she would take Nannie tomorrow, but it turns out she has to work because the ABC Stores are poorly staffed and they didn't have anyone to work tomorrow night or do the closing; so she is going to come over earlier here and get Nannie up to give her a shower before she has to go off to work. Then she said she will come take Nannie on Monday instead. And Chatty CG will be here next Thursday but will be away the following Thursday, which is the day my car is re-scheduled for; I may have to change that appt too, We'll see.
It's kind of tough trying to plan out things that I want to or have to take care of when the availability of SiL and CG changes so often. Maybe next week we'll hear something about the Senior Center? I'm not holding my breath, though. Jiminy Crickets! I must have a gray cloud floating above my head or something. At least it's not the Sword of Damacles (sp?) hanging up there. At least, I can't see it, if it is there!
Two hours until Nannie's bedtime!
G'day.
Before smart phones, I got lost outside of Asheville once just enjoying the scenery but there were a lot of twists and turns. Stopped at one store where there were a bunch of tractors outside and old men sitting in chairs speaking in such a thick dialect I couldn't understand them so I just bought a candy bar. I did find another store down the road where there was a South Asian (maybe Pakistani) man that put me in the right direction.
Work was a bit annoying as there wasn't a secretary. The charge nurse is expected to be the secretary. They are cross-training some of the techs to do it but we also need techs on the floor. Had a shift-change admission that needed a lot of work and I got off around 20:40.
Dianah hope you sleep better tonight.

Stars I hope she qualifies on one of those lists for respite care soon
Ado I don't understand the risk he sees in the cat either
Dianah I like one pot type dishes
Tweety I've generally found meetings like that to be time wasters
Work was busy in the morning, although by afternoon things had quieted down. Spent some time working ahead so the rest of the week wasn't bad
After work drove to the restaurant for the over 50 group. Decent crowd, 7 people, despite the fact that the organizer had to miss it due to illness. Wish it was a bit closer, it's almost 20 miles away. Although the traffic wasn't bad this time
Today have counseling during lunch, and I'm going to discuss winding it down. It's been very helpful, but it's also been more than a year and the progress is slowing (and the bill increasing) so I figure it's time to head out on my own and follow up as needed. Does make me a bit nervous, ending a counseling relationship is kind of like a break up, but I feel it is necessary
Nothing else unusual going on today, going to be a little warmer today, in the mid 80s
