Hi. 10 years ago I graduated with a degree in Sociology. I am currently enrolled in a community college taking some classes over and prerequisites for nursing schools. I didn't fail any prerequisites but I didn't do so well. Statistics I had a D, Intro to Psychology a D, and A&P1 C+. These grades are over 10 years old. FALL 2019, I took all three courses over and ended with a 3.8 GPA. I have an A in A&P 1, A- in Statistics, and a B+ in Intro To psychology. The community college I'm enrolled now doesn't accept and isn't accepting me in their Nursing program because I've repeated more than one course. (After being mislead and told I will be good for the Nursing program in Fall 2020) Even if the courses are over 10 years old they are still considering my past grades which I feel is unfair. Does anyone think or know what school overlooks my past grade? Any recommendations. I have enrolled back to school after 10 years to do what I initially wanted my degree on. Over 10 years ago when I had my first child I was looking for the way way out and finish with a degree I have not used.
I am actually taking A&P2, Life Span, Nutrition, and Intro to Chem this semester and then Micro in the Summer. So far this semester looks good. I'm starting to look into other schools. I would like recommendations if possible.
And.. I'm actually located in NY.

I"m not in NY, but you'll just need to do research to see what the criteria is for the various schools in your state. Will it take a long time....YES! But if you really want this, you will do what it takes.
There are ABSN (accelerated BSN) schools out there who seem to be more lenient when it comes to retaking classes. The reason being is, they know a lot of people have gotten a degree, gone to work for some years and now want to pursue nursing. Of course their classes will be a lot older. They don't want you applying if you took anatomy 15+ years ago - who is going to remember anything from back then? Your best bet is probably going to be to apply to an ABSN since you already have a bachelor's degree. The only downside is these degrees tend to be more costly and you will probably have to take out a personal loan if you have maxed out your undergrad loans from your first bachelors degree. ABSN is a second bachelors so it does't fall under a master's degree for student loan criteria. The other great thing is it always seems the financial aid office are more than willing to guide you in order to be financed. ?
Also, look outside of your state if possible for programs.
Good luck!

It does not make sense to hold against a student repeated courses that are repeated due to age. You are forced to repeat the class whether you are ‘fine’ with a C or not (hypothetical).
Hi Mergiclc, Thank you for the feedback. I was thinking a CC first but I agree with you, I may have to consider an accelerated program.
@caliotter3 Thank you. I mentioned that to the head of the nursing department and they said they don't accept more than 2 repeats anyways. Smh. I've even enrolled for their TEAS exam. They signed me up for it, so I assumed everything was good.
