Thoughts on CRNA schools: Upenn VS Scranton

Published

Recently got accepted to both amazing programs and trying to make a difficult decision. Upenn starts a year later than Scranton, interested in getting some opinions/information of the two programs..

Hello there - UPENN I heard is like the Mecca of anesthesia and you are blessed to get in there. However, it is one of the more expensive schools.

Scranton is more "reasonably" priced with also a great reputation. However, UPENN and other Ivy League Schools will open many doors for you.
I had the choice between Columbia, Hartford and Hofstra and I chose Columbia for their vast  networking potential and years of program success. Hope this helps ?

5 years after you graduate you have a track record that will compensate for name school.  I went to Columbia years ago when the program accepted only 10 students and all classes were in the city.  Today the students are farmed out to many locations without instructors o site.  If Scranton kee in physical  contact with your instructors, IMO, I would think it is a more cohesive program where you are getting what you paid for (instruction!).  Whatever you decide, enjoy your program.  Oh yes, graduate with the least debt you can.

Check the AANA.com website.  They will have more information for you.  Most foreign nursing programs cannot transfer  100% here and you might have to take some extra courses.  Will India employ you with a CRNA degree from US? Do you even have a comprable position in India?  Or is your idea to stay in US?

No sir india does not recruit CRNA 's iam willing to stay in united states after completion .  sir can you explain what kind of extra courses do I needed  thank you for replying sir .

You must check the AANA website for general requirements.  Each school will have their own extra requirements.  Some are more lenient about physics, organic chemistry and others are more stringent.  First you have to get the requirements for a US RN license in the particular state.   where you are to go to school.  Each state has their on idea of what's necessary.  We are very backwards that way.
