Wondering thoughts on UPenn's Program vs VCU's? I know VCU is ranked #1 but how do you think it compares overall to UPenn? Recently accepted to both and trying to make a difficult decision!

Wouldn't agree that its meaningless- both are great programs hence the difficulty in making a decision. Thanks for the input!

Hey there! I am currently attending an Ivy League program (Columbia). While I certainly agree that your decision shouldn’t be made solely on the fact that it’s Ivy League, I can attest to them having strong clinical experiences as well. I have colleagues who currently attend Penn, and they have minimal issues when it comes to their clinicals. They log in more than enough hours and get exposed to a variety of cases. When I attended their open house, I asked for the current students honesty when it comes to “fighting” for cases with the residents and they all said it rarely happens. So the physician residency is not always the priority.

It’s definitely not meaningless, we are not paying for a basic program and the name. There’s always going to be pros and cons to all programs. Look into both programs and see what works best for you. I decided on Columbia not because it’s Ivy League, but for its geographical location (I’m from nyc) and for its variety of clinical sites (they have over 46 sites).

Best of Luck in whatever program you decide!
