The issue is not whether nurses deserve respect. That's a given. ALL humans deserve respect, and nurses are not any different.
The issue is whether the nurse will put up with inappropriate behavior. And there are many here who don't know how to teach people how not to cross certain boundaries....
and I agree with Altra...no on both. Take care.

Yeah, re reading my post made me cringe a little (is the internet the new equivalent of drunk dialing? LOL). Although I do have to thank AN for making me realize why a migraine is taking longer to treat than someone coming in that can't breathe, not telling the nurse "you get one try" (with the IV, which I'm sadly a person that has done that before), and telling my boyfriend to get off his ******* phone while the doctor and nurse where in the room.
I have an appointment with my PCP today :)

I had to go to the er tonight for a migraine that would not go away (had it since Friday), and after frequenting these boards, I know how much please and thank you's mean, as well as working with the nurse and the doctors (not that I was ever a nightmare patient.... at least I don't think I was
). But I think that more laypeople should visit this site so they can learn some respect before going into the er, so here's my idea: they have wifi for everyone in the hospital, so when you first log on, allnurses.com would be the default page and you'd have to read two or more threads before you could go on to any of your other pages. LOL. Maybe this just seems smart and funny to me after all the meds the dr gave me (but hey! don't have a migraine and am not puking, so I'm a happy camper!)
