Those that have hallucinations

I took care of a dear man that was having quite a few hallucinations this afternoon.

He saw teddy bears,

kids in red suits,

dog in windows while looking at the wall

some man in a weird hat

A lady bending over

At least they were pleasent or just funny things to him and nothing scary.

So what are some of the craziest things you ever heard your patients hallucinating of

I mostly get patients having scary hallucinations. They sometimes care me to watch, so must be horrible for the poor person :(

Just one thing - always be careful that there may not be some truth to what a confused pt may be saying. All too quickly their bizarre 'hallucinations' may just sound like crazy talk to us. But if one investigates further, SURPRISE! Might be some reality in there...

Like the pt we thought was hallucinating about 'rats'. Turned out there were REAL mice in his room.

Some things might be explainable.

I have had hospice patients see their loved ones who have already passed on. They have reported seeing angels.....just before they pass.
