Thomas Nelson-Jan. 2012

Published

New to this site. Just wondering if anyone has applied to Thomas Nelson's ADN program for the January 2012 start date. Applications were due September 30, yet I still haven't heard anything. Anyone else waiting for a response? Any prior applicants want to share their experiences on what it took to get in? Any info would be appreciated....I think I may go crazy waiting to hear something!

Hi mcolliver,

No need to worry; I know someone in our class that hasn't taken microbiology and obviously was still accepted into the program. Good luck with your application!

Hello everyone! I am taking a chance that someone will see this. I notice the page hasn't been active for a bit. I applied to the Hampton Campus to start this fall. I scored in the 97th percentile on the TEAS. I am waiting to hear back from the school on whether they will accept my micro credit from another school. Is it possible to still get in without the points from the micro class if they choose to not transfer the credit?

mcolliver, I had the same quesiton but my scenario is a bit different. I will only have 6 to apply with but I will have all 15 when I start. I will take the LPN-Rn brdige program. Not sure of my chances but I'm gonna apply for Jan 2013 anyway.

RNhopeful2012-Thanks for the information on that. I think I PM a few months back. I just wanted to know how things were going for you and if you could give me an idea about the class schedule/clinicals. I was told that the lecture would be on m-w-f and clincials on t-th. Is lecture all day? What time do you guys usually get out on lecture days? Sorry for all the questions

Thanks in advance. ;) Good luck with school!

That does make me feel better. I have been wanting to go to RN school for years now. We are Navy and some moves have prevented me from doing it. I have A's in all the pre-nursing courses except 1 class I got a B. The lady at the school said the person she needs to speak with about the status of my class won't be in until Monday. I have been waiting 5 weeks for an answer. I hope they get it all taken care of by the application deadline. I don't want to miss those points :)

I'm so jealous of you successful nursing students that have made it into a program, just a quick question about the point system TNCC uses...does anyone know if the points are assigned based on grade or if you simply get the designated point per class for completing it with a grade above a C? Like if Micro is worth 5 points but you get a B do you only get 3 points for Micro or do they give you all 5 points for your acquired knowledge? I've been working on my pre-reqs and want to know all I can about their admission process. Anything that you remember would be appreciated!

When I went to the information session in February they weren't really all that specific on the point system. It seemed that if you had the class you got points for taking the class. It was mentioned that for Micro and A&P if you got an A then you could get extra points, but only for those two courses.

So I GOT IN!!! I am so excited. But I have a question about the books. Did you ladies go through the bookstore or did you buy them from other sites? They gave us the list of books with the quote from Elsevier and it says the books are $800, but you get the ebooks for free. Does this sound right? I'm also confused b/c when I look at the bookstore online it says the box of books is $580.

Wow, lot's of question since I last looked at this.

So our class schedule is williamburg consisted of lecture on Mondays(10-1) and Wednesdays(10-4) with Clinical either Tuesday or Thursday(8-2). I buy my books from the bookstore because you truly do not know what books you are going to need. The box contains the texts, study guides, ebooks, and simulation learning tools. The book box is expensive my first semester was 580 and I just paid 472 for the second semester pack. But these will be the only books you will need to buy for the program from what I was told. I'm pretty sure it's a better deal to go through the bookstore.

I hope to apply to TNCC for the fall 2013 start. I currently have BIO 1, Anat I, ENG 1, and psy; all with A's. I am taking microbio and anat II this fall 2012. My question is does TNCC look at your pre-req gpa or your overall gpa (all college/unvier.)? I know the overall gpa needs to be above a 2.5. My current cum. gpa is 2.75 which lets be honest sucks! But my pre-req gpa will be around 3.6. Also, I am currently living in Florida and from what I understand, these Comm. Colleges will first look at local residents, then Va residents, and then out-of-state applicants. If this is such a competitve program how do any out-of-state applicants ever get accepted?! Any advice?
