Pearson Vue Trick did NOT work for me and I PASSED!
I'm a little late to this post, but I would just like tell everyone what I did: First, I took my NCLEX-RN exam TODAY at 8am. It ended after 75 questions and I was done at about 10:05am. I drove home and even though everyone says to wait (at least 4 hours yada, yada, yada), I decided to try the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) around 10:50am. I went to the website and clicked "Start the Registration Process." I continued through all of the steps. When I got the page that required credit card info, I used an American Express gift card and entered all valid information (it was a $50 gift card but I had already used it and it had a $0 balance.) I then clicked 'next', which took me to the final confirmation page, where I had to click "SUBMIT ORDER." After that step is when I received the "good pop-up" stating "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." However, I just took my exam TODAY (at 8am and it is now 3pm-ish) and I have not received anything stating if I have officially passed or failed. Luckily for me, Virginia Board of Nursing processes the scores the next business day and I find out my official results tomorrow. It's also worth noting that I have tried the trick several times throughout the day (10:50am, 12:45pm, 2:45pm, so far lol) and have gotten the "good pop-up" each time. Also, using the American Express (or any) gift card prevents me from having the enter my actual credit card information and having to shell out another $200, which isn't something I can afford right at this moment... I found this was the best method and I'm not sure if anyone mentioned earlier in this post or not, but I just wanted to share since a lot of people seemed concerned about being charged the $200 and not having the money for it. I will update tomorrow on if I actually passed or not! Fingers crossed.

Sentara BSN... Do I have a shot?
Hello! I have also applied to Sentara for the 2014 BSN start. I have a pre-req GPA of 3.3; however this includes ALL 8 pre-req courses (anatomy 1, anatomy 2, chemistry, stats, develop. psy, english 1, english 2, and Microbiology.) My gpa is not as high as I'd like and I am hoping that since I have Anatomy II and Microbiology already completed, it will make me stand out since some students will not have those courses done by the time they apply! At least I can wish right? Has anyone taken the TEAS V yet? I am scheduled to take mine on May 29th! ((FYI- if you haven't registered yet, get on it pronto! There are only a handful of dates left! I took the earliest available and its May 29th!!)) I would love to hear anyones scores so that I may compare!

Sentara BSN program
I have officially turned in my Sentara BSN application with fee and official transcripts! I am currently studying for the TEAS V and have registered for the March 26th test date. I am extremely nervous and excited about this program. I just moved to Virginia Beach about 2 weeks ago and Sentara seems like the perfect option for me. I am scared because I feel as tho I have put 'all my eggs in one basket' since Sentara is the only school I applied for. I have a 3.4 gpa and expect to get 80%+ on the TEAS V. Wish me luck as we get closer to June!

Sentara BSN program
I really hope that is the case!! I have completed all pre-reqs (including microbiology +lab) and currently have a 3.25 gpa. I am however retaking Developmental Psychology this Spring 2013 and that should raise my gpa up to a 3.46. As far as my TEAS V, I have just begun studying for it and plan on taking it Feb. 2013! Does anyone have recommendations on the TEAS V? How specific or general is it? How much Anatomy is on it? Etc? Thanks again!!

Sentara bsn
Cool! If you don't mind me asking, what are your grades/gap looking like? I have a 3.4 gpa and have completed everything (including microbio +lab.). I'm just starting to get ready for my TEAS V now and have heard that Sentara puts a large emphasis on that score. Hoping for the best,

Sentara BSN program

Sentara College of Health Sciences - BSN Program - 3.2 GPA good enough?
Alyssa, Thanks so much for your help! You have definitely answered some of my questions! I have just e-mailed a copy of my unofficial transcript, so it is in the review process. Hopefully one of my courses taken will fulfill that developmental psy requirement. I was told a few classes would replace that including human growth and development (which I took but got a C in; it might be worth me taking dev. psy just so it doesnt drop my pre-req gpa!) On Sentara's website I have found differences in the requirements for traditional second degree applicants. One page says Comp I & II are required and another page does not have them marked with (*) meaning we need those courses. I have taken the classes reagrdless but am wondering if they wil factor into my pre-req gpa or not. And as far as Sentara lookin at pre-req grades and gpa......woooooohoooooo! I have looked at schools around the virginia beach area and Sentara is looking better everyday. The BSN degree sold me and the fact that I may able to be accepted with only a pre-req gpa brings a huge smile to my face I'll posts any updates!

Sentara College of Health Sciences - BSN Program - 3.2 GPA good enough?
Hey all, I am interested in applying for Sentara's BSN program beginning in 2014 (yikes, seems like forever from now!) After reading a bunch of posts on allnurses, I am still kinda lost haha. I realize this is a new program (in regards to the BSN) and they are changing things up every application term. I just want confirm what is needed for admission into the 2014 program. I have an AA degree, so I will be applying as a second-degree applicant. I believe the pre-reqs are: Anatomy and Physiology I & II w/ labs, Chem w/ lab, Statistics, Eng Comp I & II, and Develop. Psy. Can anyone clarify if I need to have all of these courses completed BEFORE I apply? Also, will they accept any other PSY courses (I have taken a few but not developmental?) I am also aware that Microbio is also required but according to the website, must be completed by Jan 2014. As far as grades go, I have A's in Anat I, Eng2, Stats, Chem and a B in Eng1. I also have an A in Intro to Psy (unknown if they will accept that credit in replacement of develop. psy.) I am currently enrolled for Microbio and Anat2 for Fall 2012 and of course hope to Ace those! My pre-req gpa looks pretty good as of right now but my overall college/university gpa is around a 2.75 So I am worried it will hinder my acceptance into any program. Hopefully Sentara places a STRONG emphasis on pre-req GPA only :) I am also considering applying to Tidewater Community College or Thomas Nelson Community College if I am not accepted into Sentara's program. Sentara is my number one choice since it is a BSN degree and is now accreditted by the CCNE, which is important if you ever plan on furthering your nursing career. TNCC and TCC only offer associate degrees which can be completed in about 18 months, while Sentara is about 2.5 years to complete but you come out with a bachelors degree. Another random question: From what I understand, TNCC and TCC both will look at applicants living in counties around the schools, then other VA domicile residents, and THEN out-of-state students (which I am coming from Florida.) Does this apply towards Sentara as well? Also is Sentara private or public? Exactly how competitive is Sentara's new BSN program? And would it be possible to take my TEAS V exam here in Florida or does it have to be an approved site in Va? Sorry for the ridiculous amount of questions, anything will help! -Christina

Thomas Nelson-Jan. 2012
I hope to apply to TNCC for the fall 2013 start. I currently have BIO 1, Anat I, ENG 1, and psy; all with A's. I am taking microbio and anat II this fall 2012. My question is does TNCC look at your pre-req gpa or your overall gpa (all college/unvier.)? I know the overall gpa needs to be above a 2.5. My current cum. gpa is 2.75 which lets be honest sucks! But my pre-req gpa will be around 3.6. Also, I am currently living in Florida and from what I understand, these Comm. Colleges will first look at local residents, then Va residents, and then out-of-state applicants. If this is such a competitve program how do any out-of-state applicants ever get accepted?! Any advice?

Applying for Nursing Program at Broward College Aug 2012
Thanks so much for your help StephanieMC12!! I am taking microbio + lab this fall, so hopefully that will help me out. I have also heard of BC changing the admission guidelines for 2013. From what I've been told, they intend on making a math course as a pre-req (probably college algebra or stats.) The micro class I am taking this fall is MCB2004 not 2010. I have been unable to reach an advisor and have had no reply to emails or voicemails I've left. So I'm hoping it is ok but will see an advisor as soon as i get back to south florida next weekend!

Applying for Nursing Program at Broward College Aug 2012
I am thinking of applying to Broward College's nursing program for May 2013 (IF they offer it next year.) But I have about a million and one questions and getting answers from BC is difficult enough and proving even more difficult since I am currently living in Tallahassee. So if anyone can help, I would GREATLY appreciate the help!! These questions pretain to the "Additional General Education Courses Required" 1) I know that to apply to BC, you need to have all your pre-reqs done. But what about the "additional general education courses." When are we supposed to complete those courses? Our first nursing semester? or after acceptance but before beginning nursing? 2) Regarding the additional courses, from what I understand, we must take MTB1370 and Pharmacology at BC. Is this correct? 3) It also states we need a "Humanities with writing credit" and a "social and behavioral science course." What are some example of courses that would fulfill this requirement. I have taken Humanities I & II at TCC, as well as Marriage & Family(SYG2430,) Human Growth & Develoment (DEP2004,) and Intro to Psych (PSY2012.) Would these courses work? 4) Also, IF you do have some of the 'additional education requirements' (not just pre-reqs) done, will that be averaged into your gpa when deciding admission points? This question is in regard to the pre-req courses: 5) Concerning CHM1032 Chemistry for health science: I previously attended FIU and took CHM1032 but it was called 'Chemistry and Society.' Will this course fulfill my pre-req? (I know I must speak to an advisor but I'm just looking for opinions and if anyone has dealt with a problem like this) If not, I have also taken General Chemistry I and II, will these work? 6)Concerning the points you receive from your gpa, I know they include the pre-reqs (enc, anat I+lab, anat 2+lab, chm) but when calculating your pre-req gpa, will they also INCLUDE microbio + lab, humanities, social/behavioral courses since I have already completed them? HESI Exam 7) Can this exam be taken anywhere or does it have to be done at BC? I am currently in Tallahassee and can take it at TCC. I would almost prefer they do NOT accept the scores, so that I can practice up here ($34 tally vs $60 south fl.) If this is the case, will they look down on me for this? and if I take it at BC, do they look down on students who take the exam 3+ times? Sorry about the million questions! Living 7+ hours away prevents me from going in and talking to an advisor. I do plan on coming down for mothers day weekend and plan on going to BC then but would really appreciate if anyone can help with my questions now. My current pre-req gpa is 3.57 and I would be a Broward resident. So I am assuming I will have about 12 pts. Ahhhh, that reminds me, one more question!! According to their requirements website, it states "In the event of a tie, students will be given one point for the completetion of each college-level, general education course that is required toward the ASN degree at BC. In the event the tie remains, the point will be awarded to the student with the highest grades in the required courses." Does this mean the "additional general education courses?" like micro + lab, humanities, social/behavoiral science? Is it one point per course? and are these points calculated AFTER your original gpa points, when they are reviewing applications. Also, is it possible to take the Math course, MTB1370 BEFORE applying to the nursing program? or AFTER applying but before starting the program? Again, sorry and thank you!!
