Let me just tell you: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! This happened to many students in our class as well. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is devastated. I went thru a crazy roll of emotions. Denial was the first on. I was sure the test had some sort of computer glitch lol. Anyway, Im not quite ready to kiss my 4.0 goodbye, but Ive come to the conclusion that I have to relearn how to take tests. It will be a process, but we can definitely do it. Ultimately, Im glad I even passed lol. Dont give up!

There's a nurse at my daughters pediatrician's office that has bright red hair and lots of tattoos. And my pediatrician is in a really high priced neighborhood...

My first healthcare job was as a unit secretary. I LOVED my job and its the reason why I wanted to become a nurse.

I second the cosleeping thing. I breastfed my soon-to-be 3 year old until she was 17 months. It's easier to study when they're sleeping next to you then sneak out of the bed. Putting them to bed and leaving the room is something I could never do.

OP ... It totally sounds like you are not that great with your people skills. The fact that someone responds to your heads up by saying "I'll think about it" speaks toward your disfavor. It says that you have had "people" issues for quite some time. That is also reflected in the fact that you now feel uncomfortable speaking directly to other students and your instructors see you as the cause of problems. Sounds like some soul searching is in order. You'll be dealing with people every day. Better come to terms with that.

I took it over the summer and it was fine. Have to say, tho, that it was a bit easier due to having an awesome instructor. Some people were still struggling tho. It goes fast so you really have to stay on top of the material. Wouldn't take it with another heavy class. I took it with sociology, I think. Got A's in both.

Personally I found this class easier than any other precalc type math class. It's really just a lot of word problems and formulas. Apply the formula and viola! - problem solved. Was coaching other students by the 3rd week. While doing so, the main complaint I heard was figuring out what formula to apply. After showing them the "hint" words to look for, all but 2 said they did better on tests and did the assignments faster... Every new concept seemed to build on the last tho so definitely try to stay ahead. All in all, super easy class. Dont worry, you'll do fine.

.... Unfortunately, the woman you just described is my mother. Sometimes, I cant believe we have the same DNA. Worlds apart. But then again, I left home when I was 14 and never looked back. She barely had anything to do with my upbringing. That probably has something to do with it... My advice to you is: smile, nod and keep on climbing toward your goals. Without divine help, people like that never change; she'll just keep throwing daggers. Maybe one day she'll be your patient and she'll be glad you "did too much."

I graduated in 2003 too. When I knew I was ready to go back to school, I spent a few months preparing for my college entrance exam. Because I dedicated that time, I tested into calculus, got a 99 on the English portion, and was able to choose whatever classes I wanted to take. That was my goal; to test out of remedial anything and get straight to the point. I scheduled everything from that point on and took only the classes that were nursing prereqs. Finished them all in less than a year w a 4.0 and was accepted into the January 2014 start date, just as planned. I'm writing this to say that you CAN absolutely do whatever you want - and be great at it too. I did this w children and a practically nonexistent support network. It can be done. Just sit down and put some thought into mapping out the next few years of your life and have a clear path to getting to your goals. Dont let anything deter you.

OP - Just dont slack off, keep your GPA high and absorb all the info you can from your science classes as that will help with your nursing entrance exam. Mainly keep up your GPA. That's your ticket in ☺

Have you tried Openoffice.org? It's what I've been using for years and I never had a problem sharing files. It converts to .doc, ppts and all that other stuff really easily. It's really great software. Plus, it's free. Look it up and give it a try.

I used to be a Unit Secretary! I loved the job! And my girls loved me :-) It is because of them that I decided to go to nursing school. We did have 2 newer girls on our unit that got laid off when everything went electronic. Talk about chaos at the nurses station! It was a step down telemetry unit so we were always busy. I think the nurse manager regretted the decision, especially since it was purely budget related.
