Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has applied to this program for the October fall 2020 cohort, and where along in the application process are they?
Best,
@gabriela862 I just wrote a super long post to someone else's question. It has all if not most of the questions they asked. The interview itself was very smooth. It was on zoom and there were 5-6 people there including Vicki, the associate dean, and some nurse educators. They each introduced themselves and then we got right into the questions and most of them had questions they wanted to ask. Some of them had reviewed my personal statement and application extensively and others had a very broad idea of my application (One of them mentioned something specific from my personal statement and one didn't know what school I had my degree from). I dressed professional but some of the panelists were in t-shirts, others were more professional but the vibe was semi-relaxing but I was still pretty nervous haha!
@Nursebecky I just posted a super detailed post about the TEAS if you want to take a look^
@priyalparikh6 Thanks a lot of this detailed explanation. At first, I was kinda bummed when my exam got pushed back but I also saw it as more time to review and make sure I know everything fully.
The only thing that worries me about having my exam pushed back is that it might decrease my chances of getting accepted since spots might be full by then.
I'm just hoping I get accepted for the October cohort. I only applied to 2 schools, with TESU being my first choice. The other school I applied too is upstate and I already got waitlisted.
@Nursebecky just take a bunch of practice exams or do practice questions and keep repeating areas you have problems in don’t focus too much time on areas you already know you’re good at. Good luck!
I just got my acceptance!! I will be joining you in October! @priyalparikh6 how did you submit the deposit ?
@gabriela862 yayyy! That’s awesome! I just called the number they provided in the acceptance email and the lady took my information over the phone the other option was to mail it but that would probably take some time not to mention we don’t know how often someone even checks their mailbox.
@Hendrixchick hi! I took mine on Sophia Learning and it was free due to coronavirus. It was SUPER easy and you just have to send it as an ACE credit. You can probably finish the class in a few days.

Not a problem, I'm happy to help! That's annoying that you have to wait so long to take it but more time to study I suppose.
The math was about 85% basic algebra and 15% percentages and other types of problems. The grammar and vocab sections were a little tricky because they asked you to find definitions of words using context clues or other information. The reading section was straight forward, just passages and questions about passages. The science section was the one I was worried most about because the amount of topics they could ask from is a lot. Luckily for me they didn't ask too much about physical science and earth sciences type of questions. They focused mainly on anatomy and bio questions. They had a few chem questions. They also had this ONE question that I wrote to ATI about afterwards where they expected me to answer a question that requires a periodic table but there was none provided. There weren't a lot of conversion questions between metric and standard systems that I can think of.
When studying, I started by taking a practice test and realized I just needed to focus on science so that's all I studied. I studied for about 1 week (barely) and 1 week seriously so maybe 1.5 weeks in total. I used mometrix university's online ATI course. It's $70 a month but they have this thing where you can try it out for 7 days and if you don't like it you can ask for a refund no questions asked so I made an account on my credit card and got a refund after the first week and then had my best friend make an account with her card and used that for another week so I basically used it for free for the 2 weeks. It was extremely helpful for the science sections but I also did random practice questions off of Google so I also recommend doing TONS of practice questions because they help you understand HOW to answer those questions. Try finding a website that provides rationales for answers so you can understand.
My interview was exactly 16 minutes (LOL I was freaking out as to why it was so short). These are all the questions I can remember:
- Why nursing and why now?
- What made me change my mind to pursuing a different degree from my previous one.
- If I had any thoughts on anything going on in the world currently.
- How I would resolve a conflict between me and a coworker at work if they were gossiping about me.
- How I would respond in a situation where someone wasn't happy with a service I provided.
- Why I think I can succeed in this program, especially since it is 12 months and very intense.
GOOD LUCK!
Yeah, they send you a zoom link.
