This will make me sound SO DUMB...

I feel stupid even posting this, as I know alot of people would love to go to school but can't afford it. I have a fully paid for Excelsior contract that I have never done ANYTHING with. I signed-up when it was Regents (that's how long ago) I have contacted Excelsior, they told me about some changes and said that I am paid for and ready to go. How long does it take most people to finish? and, anyone else ever feel completely unmotivated? What should I expect? Is it hard? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I probably could have finished twicw by now, I just kick myself (contract is dated 1999):crying2:

Start right now, find someone to buy study guides from and start with NC-1 or one of the Gen Ed classes. It's easy to feel unmotivated, but getting one test out of the way is sure a good motivator.

Here are my thoughts.......

Since you've been feeling incredibly unmotivated, then maybe it's good that you never started. Maybe you would've half-heartedly whipped through some material only to test and fail, turning you off from the whole idea of getting your RN. Or maybe you would've taken a few tests, only to find out that you waited too long and now you have to retake them. Who knows? Good for you for at least thinking about it again. You need to do it when you're good and ready, because your heart and soul have to be into it. It's easy to get de-motivated, so once you're plugging along, keep going. If you're in the habit of studying it's a whole lot easier to keep it up.

IDlvrM: I have some free study materials for NC1 to get you started, if you like. Just PM me your email address, and I will send them to you. Maybe you won't feel so unmotivated once you have everything in front of you. Go ahead and print out the free course outline on the EC website, and let me know if you would like the notes & practice test I have- I'd be glad to send them to you.

Procrastinators usually don't do well with the self study format, first hand experience. But, good luck.

The world is full of procrastinators, law of fives, but somehow we get things done.

OP, this is too cool. If it was me, I'd've done just enough for my thing to have expired and all the money would've been down the drain.

Do you want to do nursing? Are you interested in the material you'll be learning? Maybe if you set up your first exam date and get a timer, and just start at it, it will "hook" you.

You don't sound dumb at all. You sound pretty smart. Have at it. There are lots of Excelsior students and lots of Excelsior grads.

Can't speak for all of them, but I'm here and available, and I recognize a couple of others....

As they say on that stupid game show, come on down!!!
