Had my 2nd OB test today and one question is driving me crazy.
When doing an internal lady partsl exam on a laboring woman which of the following is true?
a. Perform internal exam every hour
b. If their is lady partsl bleeding significantly increase the frequency of internal exams
c. use 2 clean gloves each time
d. tell the mother and father all your findings
I put C, most of the people around me put D. One girl said she asked the instructor if it meant one glove on each hand, or double glove one hand and the instructor said "it doesn't really matter" so that leads me to believe that C is wrong.
A is wrong because you should never to exams on a scheduled basis, B is wrong because of the wording and we were told not to do exams if there is bleeding, C could be wrong because it says "clean" gloves, if the membranes were broken you would use sterile, but we don't know that, I think D is wrong because I am not sure we are supposed to tell the mother all our findings
This is a very different question than our usual scenerios. The answers will not be posted until next Thursday and this is driving me crazy.
How would you answer?

yeah, it didn't really matter because the answer states to use clean gloves each time when doing an internal lady partsl exam on a laboring woman without regard to intact/not intact membranes.
