Hey All
Just wondering what late April/ Early May is like at FSH, Texas is like? My packet goes to the board next month and I was thinking that I would like to get obc out of the way then as opposed during the summer. Do any of you Texans/ southerners have any input for us northern folk and any survival tactics?
thanks in advance:twocents:

Im not in Texas, but Im in Mississippi and our climates are similar. Late April and early May arent too incredibly hot, but the humidity is tough PLUS it rains alot. It still gets cool at night, so you would probably have to pack for summer weather during the day, and spring/fall like weather for nights. Plus an umbrella..hahaha. Hope that helps.
P.S. Hopefully I will be in the spring class too for OBLC. :)
Ok sounds like I can tolerate that let's hope that things can get in order for us and we can get there and get it done. Thanks for the info. Edie
I hear ya there. Im glad your packet is going next month (read it in another thread). I dont know when mine will be going up, but I hope its at least December. Does it meet only once a month?? Im going to sign my packet tomorrow so I will ask my recruiter. I just have a hard time waiting (ahahaha) so this waiting for the board is going to make me batty.

If you are signing your packet tomorrow, then it will make the November board. Good luck. There seems to be quite a few of us hopefully going to the spring fling at FSH:eek:
Oh really!!! Thats great!! My recruiter made it sound like it had to go everywhere (to Battalion, then Command) before it would get to the board. That makes me really REALLY happy. :icon_hug: thanks!!!
I hear you about waiting. I missed Oct by a few days. At least I have only a couple of weeks ledi now. I was hoping that maybe it was a regional thing cause how can they have time to go through all those packets in one weekend.but I guess thatll remain a mystery
I don't know either. My recruiter finished scanning my packet into the computer Wed of last week, and I knew by Friday afternoon that mine was accepted. I hope all of us can be at the April OBLC together. Good luck

Wow! I thought they met only once a month.... Are they meeting more than that?
Congrats by the way!
Well, I just talked to my recruiter and she said the board was meeting Nov 19th. Actually it is a week long process, but she said I should know something the week of Thanksgiving. At that point, she said it takes a couple (sometimes three) months to get orders and start drilling with my unit. Who knows when I will get to go to OBLC as it sounds like I might not make it for the April class hopefully that wont be the case. I would like to have all of this done before my boyfriend gets back from Iraq.

Hmm thanks for the info. If that all is the case I may not be in the April obc class either. I will then plan on the fall if I can get orders to do so jees we gotta wait almost another whole month well maybe ill have two reasons this year to give thanks the usual (my divorce became final the day befor thanksgiving in 2000) and now commissioning as a officer in the army reserves nurse corps
EXACTLY!!! Nothing more to be thankful for than that!!! (If I am selected) I am hoping to spring the whole thing to my family over the Thanksgiving dinner table. That should be good fun!! My family isnt really supportive of my decision to do this but, as I have told them, it isnt their decision to make.
Im not sure when I would go if I dont get in the Spring class. Im not sure I want to do Texas in the summer (hahaha). Actually, I am going to go when I get the chance. I think getting signed up for OBLC is unit specific, so when I go to drill the first time, Im going to start hounding them to schedule me. Im going to give them the excuse (which really isnt an excuse at all) that I need to know as far in advance as possible so I can start preparing to take off from work to go. I mean, its only fair to let them know as far in advance so they can cover my shifts. Plus it will give me time to build up some PTO :)
