Hi everyone! ?
So, after finally graduating and passing my NCLEX and taking two months off to spend time with my family... I started applying for jobs. It's so hard here in New Jersey to get an interview! I'm thinking about relocating to anywhere in the U.S. as a new grad.
Since most of you are experienced with this... Do you know any hospitals/states that are in need of nurses, especially Spanish speaking ones? I think it'll be an exciting experience to live in another part of the U.S.
Any advice would be great appreciated! Thank you!

Well I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and we need nurses desperately. Spanish speaking is definitely a plus. It's a great little city of about 100,000 people, very friendly and laid back, low cost of living, low crime, surrounded by mountains, with mild winters. Lots of arts and culture, and sports activities. Lots of people from California are moving here because of the low cost of living. Check it out!
Thank you so much Nursy.
It's funny that you mentioned New Mexico. It's at the top of my list since I started thinking about relocation. I researched the area and it's almost exactly the type of place I would like to live in.
Is the salary for RNs good? Would I also need a car to get to places or is transportation reliable?
I've been a nurse forever, so my salary is good, I can't really speak to starting salaries though. I do know that at times the hospitals have offered up to fifteen thousand dollar hiring bonuses (even to LPNs) I don't know what the current situation is. I do know that the cost of living is pretty low, so that does compensate. I know a few people that live here without cars, but you would be limited especially if you want to utilize the outdoor recreational opportunities. No public transportation is going to take you to the trail heads in the mountains! Some people bike everywhere, it's not a huge city, but it is hilly, and we have a windy season that can make being outside a challenge. Both hospitals are on major bus routes, and have lots of apartments close by. It's entirely possible to rent close to the hospital and walk to work.
