Things I can't stand in nursing: (just a vent)
Spelling/pronouncing the names of drugs incorrectly. Example, last week, i corrected a MAR that read "Phergan Suppitory" instead of phenergan suppository.
I hate when people call vicodin "VICODAN"
i hate when people call phenergan "PHENERGRAN"
i hate when people call risperdal "RISPERIDOL"
and then put this on the MARS.
i hate when people write on a MAR "Lotrisone Cream to affected area". can't they be kind enough to tell the rest of us where the affected area is??
I hate being called "waitress" YES IT HAS HAPPENED!!
I hate when people put the call light on, only to go in their room and they ask me for the remote, which happens to be 6 inches in front of them. Alert, oriented people, who just think they're in the Hilton vs. the hospital.
and that's all i can think of for now.
anyone care to share their vents with me???

People that don't do their jobs.
Not replacing new pages of doctor's orders, nurses notes, etc. and using the last line.
Finding out that something didn't get done on the previous shift 2 hours into your shift and the staff was sitting at the nurses station reading the paper and drinking pop 30 minutes prior to beginning of your shift.
Leaving a tablespoon of coffee in the bottom of the coffee pot and leaving the burner on.
People who come to work late and waltz in like its no big deal.
People who whine to their coworkers that cannot do anything to help solve their problems, but when you tell them to take it to management, they get upset.
Staff that chew gum during work. Even worse, blowing bubbles or "snapping" their gum.
Staff that do not look clean and ready to work when they get there.
I could go on...but I won't .
