Does anyone have any feedback good or bad on a Thermofocus Non-Contact Thermometer? It works by aiming a light beam at the forehead. I am in the process of purchasing a new thermomter and like the idea of not having to purchase probe covers which I seem to run out of very quickly.
I just found an old thread on the Exergen Temporal Scanner. Any new feeback on that one?
Thanks in advance.

my biggest gripe with the thermofocus is the one i'd used doesn't shut off.

I bought it for the exact same reason, but found it was not very accurate and ended up buying more probe covers for the other anyway. Maybe others have had better luck with it. I love the idea of it.

I have been using the termporal scanner for the past few months. I have found that it reads around 1/2 degree higher than my WelchAllyn oral thermometer and is fairly consistent.
It has also been very useful with our Pre-K population who have a hard time putting a thermometer under their tongue.

I have the Termofocus and it is terribly inaccurate. I only use it for one special ed student who refuses even an axillary temp. Everyone else gets the Welch Allen SureTemp.

I have the Exergen temporal scanner at home and hate it. Following the instructions, I'll try 2 or 3 times to take my kids' temps and get 2 or 3 widely varying readings. It's also awkward to position it properly to scan someone else's forehead. I can use it fairly easily on myself, but not so easily on another person.
I wish I had just replaced my tympanic thermometer instead of falling for the newest gadget.
