In and around Syracuse NY, hospitals are eager to scoop up new grad RNs whether you are associate or bachelor degree prepared. Just throwing this out there for people who are interested in relocating. They are hiring like crazy, especially the hospitals that are 30 to 45 minutes outside of the city.
A lot of people have complained that Rochester has no jobs, which is true because there are just ton of nursing schools in that part of Western NY, but Syracuse does not have that problem. In fact, because Syracuse University closed down its nursing school, the shortage has gotten even more acute.
I know people think the nursing shortage is a myth, but if it's real, and it's just regional as many people have said, then it definitely exists in and around Syracuse. A lot of their new grads are getting hired via phone interview!

Wow!!! Can you list the names of some in that area? I definitely have no problems relocating!
Sure! Crouse, Saint Josephs, Upstate Medical Center are within the city of Syracuse. Surrounding ones are Oneida, Oswego, Rome hospitals, all easily commutable from the city!
Thank u soooo much!!!! Looking into it after posting this:yeah:

You said it's even better for areas outside Syracuse. I will be a new grad soon in Geneva, NY, which is about equidistant from Syracuse and Rochester. Are there any suburb cities closer to Geneva that are hiring like crazy as you say? That'd be helpful!

thanks wdm08002 for sharing the information! i don't know if this is too much to ask, but what other hospitals are hiring in the syracuse area. i only googled the ones you shared, and tried to google for more, but i didn't see any others. just wanted to cover my bases :)
i am from ca, but also very willing to relocate. do you know by chance if those hired were in-state or out-state? it would be great to get a phone interview even, but to be hired through that interview would be amazing!
anyways, thank you again!
The only other hospital in the city itself is Community General. That and the ones I listed are pretty much most of the hospitals in Syracuse, if not all of them!

Thank you for the nice gesture..I'm sure this is appreciated by a lot considering the hiring freezes in other states...:)
