The VA hiring process

Here's the timeline and breakdown if this will help any. I am an honorably discharged vet and an LPN and finishing my RN now.. I applied on a Tuesday and got a call back the next Monday for an interview. I interviewed the following Monday and was then taken on a tour of the facility to meet the nurses on the flood and see how everything operates and how the med system is. That Friday I got an email from the nurse manager asking for references so she can push paperwork through. Does this all look positive? How long from this point does it take to usually know if you were a selected candidate. Thank you for any input!

Around here the va application states that it requires college transcripts. Did yours do that? I kind of want to apply, but at ten dollars per transcript, I don't want to pay thirty dollars to apply and have nothing come of it!

Va will need official transcript, however with mine, I requested the university to send it as it has all my community college courses on there as well. I didn't have to send the official transcript from the community college. If you have multiple degrees, I would consult HR to see if they need transcript for each degree or transcript related to nursing.

Crazymama-from the interview to the tentative is fast for me within 2 weeks, from there, it takes another 2 months and I am still waiting due to the delay of the Board returning paperwork and that was more than 6 weeks already. If you are planning to put in a notice with your current job--highly recommend not to do that ...

I think you can give them your own copies of transcripts until they "tentatively select" you. That's what I did. Then they want sealed official copies. I had them all sent to me and I took them down to HR myself. Your process is moving very fast, good luck!

I was tentatively hired In August at The V.A. Fort Worth outpatient clinic I've done everything Vetpro, Equip, physical, I've even been boarded. I'm just waiting on the director to sign. Does anyone know how long this takes. I was suppose to start on the 3rd of November. Now hopefully I'll start on the 18th. Any advice will be helpful.
