Starting a thread for those applying to UT's AE-MSN program for 2023.
Congrats! Just from reading past forums being waitlisted isn't a bad thing at all with this program! I'm rooting for you ☺️
Hey y'all I've been lurking on this page for sometime now. I just wanted to say don't give up hope if you haven't heard back yet! I just found out I got into leads today. My stats applying weren't that great but I definitely think the application is very holistic. (Interview, personal statement, recommendations, CV) it all matters. Congrats to everyone who got in!! Looking forward to meeting y'all.
Hey all! Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted so far! When they offered to have me submit for the leads program instead of the PMHNP program without even being offered an interview I decided to wait and reapply next year. I'm trying to figure out if I should try for the PMHNP program or the Leads and what I can do before the next cycle to increase my chances. Could those of you who have been accepted please share your stats? Here are mine:
upper GPA: above 3.9
overall GPA: 3.78
science: 4.0
prereqs: 3.8....1 B in statistics from 15 years ago ( was told 1 B wouldn't be enough to effect me getting accepted but I think I may need to retake it)
CV:
CNA at a trauma level hospital 1.5 years
CNA: SUD treatment center for medical detox
Behavioral interventionist: children with developmental disabilities 7 months
current work: Health specialist & educator for SUD programs through a national non-profit.
shadowing: FNP in urgent care
LORs:
RN- worked with for 1 year
Professor-chair psychology department
FNP: I shadowed
Any advice from you academic rockstars is greatly appreciated:)
(I'm using my phone so not sure if the formatting is off)
@Leahpsych you have great stats! I think the committee was really splitting hairs in choosing PMHNP applicants this year.
I have B.S. in neuroscience, 4.0 in prereqs, work experience as a behavioral and neuromodulation therapist, and work experience in healthcare management, and I'm now finishing up a master's degree in health administration. My LORs were a psychiatrist I worked under, an NP, and a nursing operations manager.
We have similar stats, so I would say not to give up if this is your dream! Also, I think the interview was really important so make sure to go through older forum posts where people say what they were asked during their interviews. That helped me so much and I came off very prepared when I had mine for this cycle! Hope this helps!
