The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) AMNP Spring 2024

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find a pre-existing thread on here but I'm creating this for people applying for UAB's AMNP Program of Spring 2024 as a place for us who have questions, advice to give, etc.

I recently found out about this program and am so excited to find something I believe is the right fit! Are there any posts from previous students on their experiences in the program? And does anyone know what they're looking for in admissions (besides GPA) and in interviews?

Hey!! I applied for priority deadline. Has anyone heard about interviews yet ?

Invites should go out by next week!

I applied priority but wasn't given an early interview. I was moved to regular admission. I wonder if a low GPA  (3.38) affected my chances.

My GPA is a 3.57 and I was moved to regular admission as well.... I'm so bummed since it's my second time applying.

I was also moved to regular admission. My GPA is a 3.5.

That's a competitive GPA. When you applied the first time did you do priority or regular admission? Were they able to tell you what was missing from your app? I just emailed inquiring about ways to improve.

The first time I applied for priority but didn't get an interview. I ended up getting accepted into MBA school and graduate from the program in December. When I didn't get accepted the first time I was told that my application was competitive but that they had double the amount of applicants, making it more competitive. They prioritize previous UAB students and veterans (I know three and all had low GPA's w/ no healthcare experience).. the previous program director told me that they had to get very picky and that the only thing she saw w/ my application was that I retook two core classes. I would say get shadowing hours, but I'm not sure that it makes a difference.

I had a 3.7 GPA and experience working in hospitals and got moved to regular admission too ?

Does anyone know around what time we'll be getting notification on whether or not we made it through to the interviews for regular decision? I went to an informational back in June, but I can't remember is they said beginning of October or the end of September.

Based on when people have heard back in the past, I think it will be next week, somewhere between the 9th and 13th.
