The University of Alabama - Application for FNP program - Fall 2025

Published

I just submitted my application for the family nurse practitioner program that starts in the fall of 2025. I was a nervous wreck! Hoping I did well enough to have a decent chance of acceptance. I am still in the middle of taking my BSN but will be done in July. I've been working as an RN for about six years before I decided to go back to get my BSN. I'm just hoping to get in so I can just keep going until the very end. I'm afraid if I take another "break" that "break" will turn into years and years of refusing to go back.

Sorry for the long post, but for anyone who may already be in the program, how long did it take most of y'all to hear back after submitting your interview? I'm going to be sitting on pins and needles!

Hey! I know it's been a few days but any updates 😭

I haven't heard anything yet! I tried calling yesterday just to get a general timeline but never got through to anyone. I did get an acceptance letter to the University of South Alabama this morning though! Went ahead and secured my spot, but if by chance I get an offer from UA, I'll probably withdraw to go with UA instead

That's amazing! OMG congratulations!! 🎊🎉 I'm truly hoping by next week we'll hear something, the wait time is so frustrating

Thank you! And I know I hope so too!

Hi! I've also applied for the Fall FNP program. I graduated with my BSN from UA in 2000, so I'm really hoping to get to return for MSN. I also applied to USA (but won't take that one because the Summer 2025 schedule won't work for me) and University of West Florida. The waiting is so hard 😂

Hi Amanda!
Welcome to the waiting game! Hopefully we will all get accepted into UA and can stay connected throughout the program, I just checked my application status and it still says under department review. I spoke with the virtual assistant and she said it can take up to two weeks after the interview for a final decision. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Hey Everyone,

I just checking the portal and it still says under department review. Any updates?

Same for mine. I did my interview on 3/19.

Mine still says the same. Did y'all apply anywhere else? I applied to UNA, but didn't get in for this fall semester. They said there were just so many applicants this time around that it was super competitive. I also applied to South Alabama and got accepted. I went ahead and accepted my spot, but if I get an offer from UA I'm considering withdrawing from USA to go with UA.

I just checked my email and it says that I was waitlisted and decisions for those on the waitlist will come out June 15th 😩 It feels like a never ending waiting game! I also applied to South University since they have a hybrid program but the tuition is more expensive. I guess only time will tell, good luck to you both!!

This is making me nervous. I decided to apply at the last minute right before the deadline (March 21st). I keep checking my status and it is still "departmental". I haven't even gotten an email about an interview. This is making me feel like I am going to be denied.

I thought the deadline was 4/1 for fall. I didn't realize they had a waitlist, Ness...maybe some will accept another school and open up spaces once decisions have been made.
