The perfect ICU shift

Specializes in SICU.

I had the best day today! I took care of a pt post cath/stent placement -turned into a bleeding CAD- leading to cracked chest secondary to cardiac tamponade. I took over 6 hours after admission from OR to SICU. When I came in, this patient had arterial lines, the cvp/ cordis, PAC/ the usual post heart stuff, by 5pm, he was weaned off all meds, sitting in a chair eating dinner using his IS watching Opera on TV. All systems working, kidneys, lungs, heart brain all back to baseline (if not better). This was after a massive amount of blood loss and a very tramatic immergent procedure. Although we do this with most ofour hearts it was still awsome, it was great because I had a plan, and I met every single goal, pain control, dietary, labs, hemodynamics, coping ie family and patient care etc. I loved my job today!:yeah:

you are so cool:wink2:
