The night before my NCLEX RN exam....

Published

Hi everyone,

I've been reading allnurses.com for the past year and a half while in my accelerated nursing program. Now, on the night before my big NCLEX exam, I am reaching out to you all.

I'm so nervous.... I know everyone says that, but I am *really* nervous. I know I *can* pass, but I have it in my head that I won't. I know I can't think that way -- but my nerves are getting the best of me.

I did a review course in Cleveland called Buszta, which was pretty helpful, I hope. I also did some Kaplan qbank questions. My anxiety is so awful, I woke up today thinking: "this is it -- it's too late to change my test date now -- I have to take it tomorrow!"

Tonight I find myself studying things, sitting here in my pajama pants, getting my ATT and clothes ready for tomorrow. Trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast. It seems like today has gone by so fast -- maybe with daylight's saving time last week -- but it is so dark outside and I just wish there were more hours in the day!

Anyways, thanks for listening to me talk about how nervous I am lol! Do any of you have any last minute tips? My test is at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning!

Thanks again! :-)

Liz

Take a few deep breaths and clear your mind. I can't say not to peek at your study materials, because I would probably do the same.

If you do have an hour or so to spare for breakfast, go to Denny's or IHOP (close to PearsonVue) and relaxxxxx before you drive to the testing site.

During your exam, if you start feeling anxious----say a prayer, think happy positive thoughts and/or request a break. Good luck to you!!!:)

I took that Buszta course - if you prepped how they told you to you're in good hands! My entire Buszta "class" passed and I have had several friends take the review course, too, and everyone in their "class" passed.

Honestly, try not to psyche yourself out the night before. I didn't spend much time studying the night before; instead, I tried to use that time to just relax and try to refresh myself.

The day of, eat a balanced breakfast, especially with protein! Don't bring study materials to the testing center...don't even bring them in your car! Leave your phone in your car, too...I just went in with my ATT, my ID, a bottle of water and a granola bar.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! Well, I took the test.... 125-130 questions later the computer turned off. I started out confident, then it got really hard, and I had some awful pharm questions on there with drugs I didn't recognize at all! I had 16 SATA questions. It ended on a question that I knew I had the right answer to. When I got home, I did the Pearson Vue Trick, and I got the "good" pop up! I'm hoping this works.... I took the test on a Friday so I have to wait until Monday to know for sure. Ugh! The waiting is AGONIZING! For anyone who took it on a Friday, did any of you get results on the weekend? Or will I have to wait until Monday? Okay.... thanks for listening.... and @turnforthenurseRN -- the BUSZTA course definitely helped -- I heard Renee's voice in my head the entire time -- but none of the meds were on there that they told us to study. So that sucked a little. Okay everyone, I will keep you posted!!!! :-)

congratulations on your passing

Thanks but I won't be convinced until I see it on the site. Since Veteran's Day is tomorrow, do you think it will show up on Pearson Vue on Monday? This is so hard to wait!!!!!!

It's official: I PASSED!!!! Thank you for everyone who believed in me and thank you, allnurses.com, for the wonderful study guide -- I feel like the infection control mnemonics on it are what helped me pass! If I can do it, anyone can do it! :-)
