The length of immigration process??

Hi, Could anyone here give me some rough estimate about the length of immigration process,--from finding a employer sponsor to geting yourself interviewed by USA local embassy?? Some people say that it takes 1 or 2 years while other people believing 6 months?? What takes the most time during the process, I-140 or DS 230 or waiting for interview? I am in Hong Kong and wonder if the loction matters the length? Just want to have some ideas about the situation I will be going through. And what the documents I need to prepare besides the birth certificate?

One of my friends told me the American employers were not interested in interviewing foreign nurses at this moment because of the retrogression. Is this true? I plan to start job hunting in early March. So, What is your opinion about this? Thanks a lot!

I am currently waiting for my greencard but have no plans of diverting to other countries because I signed a contract with a US employer, but before that, I tried to research about NZ and from what I know, NZ requires 2-3 years of Nursing experience particularly in specialty areas..and they need IELTS Band Score of 7 in speaking, writing, listening, and reading...

I dont have the number of years rquired but my IELTS band score in all areas are qualified enough. Still, I wont qualify for NZ or OZ due to lack of experince. I gues il stick to my US dream since this great forum supplied me with enough information to make my dream come to life.
