The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Yeah it also says you won't be asked for your bank info unless you are being offered the scholarship :(

None of us know who is getting it yet. If you were asked for your banking infor I would feel confident. Who knows about these credit checks right now. Maybe they just did not show up on your reports. I dont know I feel terrible that you and Joe and others have not had ur credit checked yet. If I get this scholarship I will be happy but I will be sad for those that dont get it.

This program does not requires you to take a GRE (depending on your home school of assignment, you have to have letters from your faculty, as well as a GPA of at least 3.0... It surprises me that you dont know about RODP. It is a joint effort between APSU, MTSU and East ten state, TSU, Ten Tech Univ, Univer of Memphis... They started this program to get more advanced practice nurses in Tn.... If you have any more questions just let me know...

Thanks so much for the info! Someone had actually mentioned the online program through ETSU but I didn't know it was through a state wide effort. I still think I am going to just buckle down for a few years and just work my butt off so we can buy a house (plus I am kind of burnt out with the whole school thing :)) and then just go back to school for the DNP. I wish you the best of luck with all your schooling and hoping you get this scholarship.

If HRSA is to notified recipients by tomorrow then they should have had disabled your "modify your profile" tab. That is what is written on their website. That is if they are notifying recipients by mail, which according to AW's email, that is how they plan to notify you guys. But again, that website is full of contradictions.

I can still modify my info. So either they don't ever disable the thing or they have not made any decisions yet which means don't hold your breath for an email tomorrow

not holding my breath

We all have to do what is "right" for us. I hope it all works out for you. Im sure it will and Hopefully we can stay in touch through this at least. Keep me posted on how school is for u...:)

RN2BLESLIE,

I forwarded the 2 emails to you. I have no idea how to send messages on here. LOL. Hope you got them.

I got them...thanks bunches...

See I never got those two emails and they are before my credit was ever pulled but I got the email from my analyst on the 19th or 20th and my credit was pulled on the 3rd of August...

I just have faith in God that what He chooses to do for me is what is best for me and my family. Having 3 kids, (10y,4y,10m) is enough not to mention I just started my job as a Nurse Extern working 7p-7a and going to nursing school. My husband works (self-employed) and boy have we had tough times in the past, God has never failed me before so I KNOW He won't fail me now...

I pray that each and every one of us gets the scholarship because we all know how much we truly need it...I will not worry about it any more...I refuse to...I think I need to get more sleep being is I have had two shifts these last two nights...I am beat!

Have faith everyone...it WILL come through!

Oh I am so with you on that. I totally need a break from school and we are so broke right now, I just want some time to dig myself out of this hole. I'm not even sure I'd be done with a NP program by 2015 anyway. I still need to get my BSN first and I wasn't going to go full time to get it.

:clown:Hi, I just joined because first I never recieved any email from anyone and I am so lost reading about what you guys wrote about CJ VJ who knows lol, who is that people? and what they where suppose to sent? Also I did not get my credit checked either by them because I just look at my credit reports and nothing. Also one thing, I cannot change or modify my info anymore in their page nor my address or phone or anything. Does that means anything? Im so not excited, even thought my EFC is 0 and I starve sometimes to feed my daughter while I finish nursing school. Anyways good luck!!!!

The initials are the people who are the analysts. In July there was an email sent out to the people who were to be finalists/alternates asking us to sign contracts and provide banking information. From there, some people have been in further contact with analysts to be sure that paperwork was turned in. From what I have read, everyone can still modify their profiles so I am not sure what that means for anyone. I guess we all just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.
