The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I know it doesnt really matter at this point but I didnt get my original email from MC till later in the day...I was so bummer when I read everyone was getting one, then I had to go to work. When i got home from work I had recieved my email. I felt like an after thought, but at the same time, my email time stamp is messed up...not sure if that makes a difference though!
I think you just apply for this one once you are accepted into a FNP program, so after you serve your 2 years for this scholarship, can't you apply for this?
Yes, but I graduate in May and ill start the FNP program the next fall... It is an 18 to 24 month program. So I will be finished with my FNP before im finished serving my two years I owe to HRSA. By then it wont be worth it to me.

Ambitious much?? LOL You're going to work full-time AND start the FNP program. My hat's off to you! I would never be able to handle that much, lol.
Hey everybody!
I'm new to this message board but have been reading EVERYTHING you guys have to say over the past couple of days! I'm glad that I'm not the only nervous one out there !!!
I see that we might be getting e-mails tomorrow (monday 23rd) if we have been selected for the scholarship. I have CF as my analyst and was wondering where you guys all got your info about getting notified tomorrow. My hopes for getting an email are high as heck right now, but a little confirmation would be awesome!
CF has called me about 5 or more times because the people who faxed my papers did them wrong every stinkin' time. Plus about 2 weeks ago, she asked me to re-fax my contract because I didn't sign it for enough years. I'm so glad she called or else I would have only received funding for a year if I do get the scholarship!
Anything else would be helpful.. Thanks so much guys... and hang in there

Well I figure I might as well go all the way because the regulations for FNP will change after 2015. I want to be granfather'd in. Plus, I figure Im not use to the money now anyway, and it will be harder for me to go back to school later. The program is mostly online, and full time is considered 9 credit hours. Three 12 hour shifts a week is fulltime and that will be nothing compared to the hours I have had to put into nursing school. LOL!

I completely agree. That's exactly what I am planning on doing. I will graduate in May start grad school in Sep. At that time, my husband will be in his last year of nursing school, so I will pretty much have to work full time while I'm in grad school. We have very similar reasons for making that decision.

Hey Sgoud if you don't mind me asking what school are you going to be getting your graduate degree from? All the schools I have looked at around me (Southeast TN) require at least a years worth of experience before you can attend a FNP program. Also, have you already taken your GRE?
dkc!

I think my state school has some kind of child care assistance. I just sent in a form . . . I don't know what it will be, but it's worth checking out. On my school website it was under family/child assistance or something of that nature.
