The Big, Bad, Burgh!

Published

I graduated in May 05 and am currently working in a small (15 bed) ICU/CCU and am looking to head to Pittsburgh in October. What's the best place to work? I'm currently working for 18.09/hr and working 12 hour shifts, although I'm not opposed to 8's. Any input?

There are alot of hospitals to choose from in Pittsburgh. Do you want a large hospital ( Presby), or a smaller nice hospital ( South Side). Do you want the best benefits, pay, free parking and other perks ( VA Medical Center), Good Trauma and Burn Unit ( Mercy), Pediatrics your thing ( Childrens), Psych your thing ( Western Psych, the VA also has a Psych hospital). Good luck to you.

Try West Penn Hospital. A big hospital with a small hospital feel.

Excellent neonatal units, top of the line burn unit. Great for Cardiology, cath lab, open heart ICU, CCU

I have heard only good things about West Penn. Hosp. Hope you like Pittsburgh. Go Steelers!:rotfl:

Since I process referrals for Mercy Home Health in Pgh, I can say good things about the hospital and staff I interact with! Anyone interested in homecare in the area, I've got contacts. West Penn has had a great rep over the 25 years I've been a nurse.
