Anyone have any input for stethoscopes that you can hear through fat with? I have a Littmann Cardiology III. Lately I have been seeing a big increase of morbidly obese pts, (500 - 600 lbs) hospitalized on my unit. Sorry to say, sometimes I can't hear a thing with my stethoscope.
It's very difficult to assess someone if you can't hear things. Does anyone have a stethoscope that works with this difficult pt group? Anyone know what bariatric nurses and doctors use?
