Ok taking a moment out of studying for the NCLEX here and wanted to think about something irrelevant for a bit.
I'm not sure how many guys here have watched HawthoRNe, but who thinks the one male nurse on the show in kind of a tool?
I brought up the same point to some of my nursing school friends and they all think he is "cute"

Haven't seen much of the show, but I've wondered about this and other shows. Why do they always use Sprague Rappaport stethescopes on tv shows? Does anybody else even see these in real clinical settings?

Because the prop master can get them for cheap on a tight budget...

im a tech in the ER and what i see on this show and what i see in the "real" ER are two totally different things, but i enjoy it. For the male nurse on the show, i think hes a tool but it brings humor to the show, the stupidest things only happen to him and it makes him a good character. looking forward to next years season.

I like the show. It's a TV show, not real life, so I have to remember that when I watch it, and I'm just excited to see a show that has nurses actually performing their jobs, and not just taking orders from doctors. The thing that annoys me about the male nurse, I guess, is that he's disappointed in his position as a nurse, because he really always wanted to be a doctor. I wish they would have made his character perfectly happy with being a male nurse. I don't personally know any male nurses who came to be in that position because they had to "settle" on it, because they "never made it as a doctor," you know?

I like the show but I hate that character. I have never met a male nurse with that personality.
However, there is something funny that I noticed. Watch any of the early episodes and pay close attention to him or some of the background male actors and you might see that the male nurses in that show like to lean back on the wall or desk and cross their arms. As if to keep that MALE look. The sad thing is......I catch myself doing that from time to time. LOL!

Any show that features someone yelling "DON'T DIE ON ME NOW!" is toolish by definition.

It always tickles me to see the super cheap stethoscope on the TV and in ads. I always wonder if any nurses or doctors actually own one of them. I know some facilities have them lying around for staff use but they are just awful; guess they are cheap to replace by the truckload tho :)

That show is a trainwreck and a wannabe. The writing is sophmoric and LAME, the drama isn't, the acting sucks and that dude's character is a complete TURD. Almost ALL the characters suck.
The ONLY thing saving that show is Will Smith's wife running it AND acting in it AND being easy on the eyes, mostly the latter.
I still end up watching the damn thing though. Like I said - trainwreck.
