  1. During our recent CEN review, the lecturer said that the entire exam blueprint would be changing in July 2011. I haven't been able to find any information on this. Is this a wayward lecturer, or just under-publicized? Thanks!
  2. How long after applying online did they take to make any progress on your application? Is leaving a message on that recruitment machine recommended? I'm wary of calling managers directly, I see how unpleased managers at the hospital I work at now are with coming in to a full voicemail of grads.
  3. Just took the NCLEX a few hours ago, and infection control was DEFINITELY huge portion. You have to know and synthesize three things... What diseases require what type of isolation.. what is required for each type of isolation, and how to dress/undress in order. There was a lot of stuff about do you wear a mask with RSV type things when up close, etc.... If I could have studied one thing for the exam, it would have been infection control. Luckily, I stopped at 75 and got the good PVT pop-up, so I'm hopeful. Best of luck!
  4. I'm graduating GHNTS's RN program on Monday, and my paper work will be sent to the BON that day. Can anyone give me some info on how long the ATT is taking to arrive these days? The board says between 1 and 6 weeks. I don't know if things are going quicker this time of year since there's not a huge volume. Also, my school doesn't use the online application, but does it help expedite things at all? Thanks!
  5. Any show that features someone yelling "DON'T DIE ON ME NOW!" is toolish by definition.
  6. Hi all! I'm currently in what was supposed to be my last semester at Global Health Nurse Training Services, but they have decided to make curriculum changes which will be delaying me at least another semester, if not two. The costs are also mounting, and financial aid is a must at this point. Since the school is not accredited, I imagine transferring is next-to-impossible, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether Shenandoah or any other NOVA school takes ADN transfer credits? I also have 3 years of a B.A. from George Washington in Political Communications complete (I wouldn't be opposed to staying a bit longer to finish a BSN, since I have my gen. ed requirements complete). Waiting a full year to get into Nova or something doesn't make sense right now. I'm also a float pool tech at Inova Fair Oaks, so I've had a ton of hospital exposure. I'm just looking for somewhere that might foster some growth, but that I wouldn't have to wait years and years to get into. Probably asking too much, but could really use any advice! Evan
  7. Hi all, I have about a nine months left on my ADN. I really want to do NICU as soon as possible once I'm out. It seems to have everything I'm looking for - the technical precision, critical care, etc... All of my work history and publishing is completely unrelated (I spent three years doing a BA in Political Communication and Pre-med before deciding to go to nursing). I'm curious as to what experience builders I should be working on as of now. I feel like I'm between a rock and hard place... I think I've got a pretty big knowledge base but am really not certified or qualified to do anything special. Any suggestions would be great! Evan
