Thanks for answering my questions about the U of I. I interviewed there, but decided to accept a position in Cedar Rapids.Where is everybody from? I'm originally from Red Oak,but have lived in Maquoketa, too.
Hello from the wild wild west (of Iowa), lol! I live in Nebraska, but work in Sioux City, at Mercy Medical Center on Med- Nephro-Resp (the catch-all of all catch-all's); worked at St. Luke's long enough to pay off my sign-on bonus.
Just wanted to stop by and say hello :) I'm originally from South Sioux, but reside in Littleton, Colorado. I just get excited when I see other husker fans out there. :rotfl:
:chuckle

:chuckle Yeah it is a small world! lol I graduated in '96 and my hubby graduated in '90 from ssc, so he probably knows your daughter. LOL That's just too funny. Yeah I have to admit its nice out here in CO, diffinately more job opportunites than Siouxland. Slowly us husker fans are starting to take over the state of Colorado...lol
Over last 18 yrs have worked as PRN, Weedend Package, and Fulltime at : St Lukes CR ER, Mercy CR ER, Mercy Ia City ER, and U if I. ER
Lukes is the busiest, the U is the only Level I trauma center East of Des Moines so we get all the head trauma, and alot of multi-system trauma from CR, Wtloo, Quad cities, and everythig inbetween. There in the process of building a new ER at the U. It's needed. We are so cramped and stacked up it can really suck. But it won't be done for 3yrs.
Hi - It sounds like a lot of you are from central and southern Iowa. I feel like the lone person from the beautiful Northeast Iowa bluff country - where nursing is not bluffing. It's Decorah for me. But I work at Mercy Medical in New Hampton, Iowa. It's a little bit of a commute, but it's a good time to change gears and get the head into the game. If there are any of you from Luther College or Northeast Iowa Community College out there, I've been to both.
Now the question I have is why in the world is it that if I cross the boarder either north or east (Mayo or Gundersen in LaCrosse) would I get payed at least $4 more an hour at a base pay rate? Let's get that changed.

Sorry it took me a while to answer... I worked on 5A (medical) and was not really happy there due mostly to the staffing issues. Way to many patients per staff nurse and the NM was not the most pleasant person to deal with. It's my understanding that they are having a lot of problems; if you're thinking of working there, please check it out very thoroughly first, and the best of luck to you!
