TGH or St. Joseph's? Which is better?

Published

Hi all!! I am a new BSN graduate deciding between 2 offers: TGH acute care GN Residency or St. Joseph's acute care GN Residency. TGH starts at $23.07 and St. Joseph's at $24.74 for the day shift. I am completely torn between the two! If any one here has worked at either hospital ( or both  ) please post your thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance!!! I am so excited!!!!!

My friend is at TGH in the acute care residency. She loves seeing the different units and trying them on for size for a few weeks and being able to choose her final unit. That's pretty awesome. Her biggest complaint is that you have to park far away and take a shuttle. It takes her 20 min-1/2 hour to get from her car to her work. That eats up an hour a day, so it's a serious consideration. Especially in bad weather. I get to park in a garage connected to my hospital and will never get rained on. Good luck to you! You must be a great candidate to have options in a time when most new grads can't get one job offer.

Thank you so much for replying! Are you at St. Joes? If so what department and what has your experience there been like? Are you happy there?

Does anyone know what either of these hospitals offer for a shift diff?

$5.00 per hour for nights at St. Joes

Mike23 what did you decide?. I live in chicago and was thinking about moving to florida to TGH or baycare

I have not had a good experience in the TGH nurse residency program. They are more interested in just getting another body out on the floor to take patients than training. I would go with BayCare...

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it is all business
