Anyone work Florida Hospital?
Are you saying they offer $13,500 for a 2 year contract or was that supposed to be $1,350? I'd like to know anything you've learned about Florida Hospital as I am interviewing places right now.

Hourly wage question in FL?
I am relocating down there as well and have been interviewing. I work in critical care, so I don't know if they pay more for the unit or not. I have over 2 years experience and my base pay offers have been $26-27/hr. I have my CCRN which is $1.50 more. Then I have offers from HCA who does shift diff of $3.50 from 3p-11p, $4.50 from 11p-7a. I am also interviewing for travel positions, which you might want to consider (your wife would need to get some experience first). After 1-2 years you can travel. I am doing it to get a few short term contracts in and get to know the different hospitals down there. I figure this is a good way to test out different floors before deciding on a place to stay long term. That area has contracts that pay out a net of about $1000-1200/week. Remember, this does not include most benefits. Health coverage isn't terribly expensive through the travel companies, but if your wife gets a full time position somewhere you could share her medical coverage I would imagine. Just another idea for you to consider.

Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete cities- Help!
Medic, Thank you so much for the information. We have family in Tarpon so that's one of the main cities we were looking at, but it has been difficult finding a home with everything we want within our budget. In comparison, if we go out to Brandon, Riverview, Valrico... those areas we can get a LOT more house and property for our money. So, that's why I am so curious about the Bay area. We plan on getting a small boat, so although we really want beach access nearby, we aren't really ocean swimmers, more or less we just want to be on a boat or on the beach enjoying the view and weather. We are taking a couple trips out there, one in March and one in April, so we are hopefully going to narrow down the cities then, but I really appreciate any comments left here to help guide us during this transition!

Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete cities- Help!
Nienna, we are looking for a little of both. While we do not have a family, we also don't want to live in party central, but we like to be within a decent drive to a fun area. Primary thing- we don't want to be more than a 15-20 min drive to the water. Not sure if the Bay has nice beaches? We were planning on looking at areas such as Ruskin, Riverview, Brandon, Valrico... check out the bay area. Then we have several cities along the Gulf- Palmetto, Pinellas, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, etcc... We are open to suggestions and really would lie some insight from people who know the areas to tell us if they are nicer areas or run down. Something that is different there from Ohio that makes it hard for us to tell if areas are nice or not- in FL you can have a 500k house right next to a trailer park. Not something we are used to, but I am learning that doesn't mean it's a bad area. In Ohio, trailers are not something I would ever want to live next to, but I realize they're different in FL with all the snow birds...

Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete cities- Help!
Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, I really don't have much of a choice in the general location. Sarasota is getting to be a tiny bit too far. Are there any other cities within the areas I mentioned that anyone would suggest that I have not listed? We are open to suggestions!

Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete cities- Help!
Hey everyone! I'll be relocating to the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area later this month and I really need help with figuring out the good and bad cities. We have a list of cities we are looking at, and trying to research, but I thought I would ask for more personal opinions rather than what I can read online which is very basic info. We are looking to live near a beach, whether it be the gulf or the bay. I'm not sure how the beaches are on the bay? If you have any info on what kind of cities any of these are, please let me know! Thanks! Licensure/Certification Abbreviation help!
Ok thanks guys!

CCRN suggestions?
Thanks! The good and bad thing is that I work for a MICU/SICU that gets just about everything. I don't feel extremely confident in anything because it is so varied that I get the basics down and feel comfortable caring for the patients, but pathophys of certain things might be a little rusty. I have a feeling that although I have learned a lot, for an overall test like CCRN I am going to have to study everything.

Certifications/ Organizational Affiliation suggestions please!

CCRN suggestions?
Hello, I am going to begin studying for my CCRN here within the next few months. I have the AACN book of questions and have several videos to study. Any suggestions on how to study, what to focus on, suggestions for someone taking it with about 1.5 years MICU/SICU experience? Any suggestions will be helpful! Thanks!

Licensure/Certification Abbreviation help!
I was wondering how I am supposed to write out my few, but important, abbreviations after my name? I started out obtaining my BSBA, then became an RN with an ADN (soon to be BSN). How am I supposed to specify these things? I am planning to get my CCRN in a few months, so I believe from here on out they just go in order of time obtained, right? Thanks for any help!

Certifications/ Organizational Affiliation suggestions please!
I was curious what certifications and education looks best on a resume? I am an ICU and ED nurse and plan to get my CCRN in a few months. I was wondering if there are other certifications or affiliations with organizations that would actually be worth the time/effort/money involved. Trying my best to spruce up my resume and get the most out of what I am working towards right now. I am not in a place to begin a masters, so smaller ways to boost my professional appeal are of interest to me. Thanks for any suggestions!
