Hello Everyone! I'm starting this page for those of you applying next February for the Texas Woman's University Fall 2017 Weekend/Evening program. I've searched and searched for a thread for this particular program and I haven't been able to find one yet. I am hoping that we can all come together on this page for support and camaraderie.
I am currently studying to finish up my prerequisites. This semester I am taking statistics, psych lifespan and development, Intro to literature and A&P I. As of right now, I will come out with a 4.0 for the semester. I will then only have A&P II and Micro left and if I get As there I will have a 4.0 for my science GPA. I plan on taking the TEAS V in December but I want to begin studying in August. (There is a new version coming out then so I've decided to wait for that. Calculators will be allowed during testing.) I'm shooting for a 90 or above composite score. From reading other threads on this forum, I have gathered that TWU is very competitive.
A little about me: I work full time as a Business Analyst at Samsung Electronics. Nursing will be my third, and hopefully final, career change. Prior to Samsung I was in the Navy. I have been working on my prereqs for the past year and a half and it has all felt very rewarding. I can't wait to start nursing school and continue this journey into my new life as an RN.
I hope to hear from some other 2017 hopefuls so we can continue this journey together. If you are a traditional program hopeful, feel free to post here as well. I have done some very in depth research on entrance requirements so I if you have questions for me feel free to ask. I'm sure I have an answer.
I just submitted my application for TWU Fall 2017 Weekend/Evening Program! I was rejected for Spring 2017 and I know my chances are slim but I figured I might as well try again. I have a 3.73 GPA, scored an 86 on the TEAS, and do not have a previous degree. I am currently taking pathophysiology and plan to work on classes I need for UTA's nursing program in the spring. Best of luck to you!
I'm applying to that program too. I , lets just say at this point it all seems like a big cluster F*** at UTA in regards to who knows what and what kind of information you get. I'm also freaking out a bit because I put in a request to NCTC to give my fall 2016 grade for a chemistry class on 12/21. They just came back from break last week, I put in another request and that grade is STILL not been sent to UTA. As you well know the application deadline for UTA is in five days.
Previous Bachelors from TWU in Health Studies
TEAS- 86 Cumulative
- Reading: 91.5
-Math 93.8
-Science 74.5
-English and Language 87.5
Science GPA: 3.3 something (ish)
Pre req GPA: 3.3 ish (not that great)
TWU Grade Points: 51. something the last time I checked.
I just asked lots of questions because I want to know everything. I don't have a bachelor's degree and I haven't taken any classes at TWU so I wanted to make sure I knew what to do to be competitive with people that do have those things.
If you want to email me, we can talk more about who I spoke with. I don't know that she would want me putting her name on here. I have another appointment on 01/17 just to verify TWU has everything they need from me and to confirm that I am calculating everything correctly on the spreadsheet.
Hi guys! I'm so glad that I found this thread! I'm so nervous about this whole thing to be honest!
Here are my stats:
Nursing core GPA: 3.634
Prerequisite GPA: 3.735
TEAS Composite: 81.3
Reading: 83
Science: 85.1
Math: 81.3
English: 79.2
36.88 on the TWU worksheet
No previous Bachelors and no TWU preference.
I go so alarmed because one of the advisors looked at my grades when I dropped of my transcripts and started out by saying "if you don't get in....". And also one of my friends who is attending TWU said that he got a 97 on his TEAS. I was a little disheartened by that because I want to advance to the next step so badly
Anyway, any tips would be greatly appreciated! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Yes, there are only 30 seats but that is the range that was given to me by my advisor. She also mentioned that this is a less competitive program than the rest of them and that only about 40 or so people applied last year.
