Nurses General Nursing

Published

I'm a new LVN looking to move to Wa. once I get my RN and can't seem to find if my license would automatically transfer or not. Does anybody know where to find this information?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

If licensed in one state and moving to live in another then you need to follow requirements for endorsing your license.

Specializes in OB, NICU, Nursing Education (academic).

http://www.ncsbn.org has the information about states in the nursing licensure compact. The compact allows you to practice in more than 1 state while holding a license in another.

While TX is a compact state, it appears that Washington is not.

hope that helps!

I should add that your "main" license in the compact is your state of residence. A move from state to state would still require that you be licensed in your state of residence.....by endorsement, most likely. Check with the state board of nursing in the state you are moving to

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

You will need to endorse your Texas LVN license into the state of Washington.
