U.S.A. Texas

I'm totally new to this and I am amazed at all the information this web site provides! Is anyone else on here going to be applying for the TTU Traditional Nursing Program for the Fall 2012 semester? Also, I need to take intro to nursing and pathophysiology this Spring. Is it best just to take it at Tech? Any input would be most helpful! :D

Hey there! I am attending the Lubbock campus as well. My names is Sarah :) Do you know where you are gonna be living? I would say def set aside a few days to go and visit some apartments if you can. One of the apartments I looked at (The Edge) is right across from health science center.. But it is a bit out of my price range. Also, on top of that you are responsible for your own roommate. sigh one can dream. I think Gateway is a pretty good bet. You can get a two bedroom for around 530ish and it is fully furnished along with all bills paid. Plus, apartments are always running specials. Anyways, good luck on finding an apartment! I know it can be a bit stressful Oh some other places I checked out were:

1) university courtyards

2) University Pointe

3) University Trails

4) The Fountains

5) cottages- actually signed lease here

Thanks so much for all these tips; definitely will come in handy. I have heard of the Cottages. Cottages match up any roommate or someone from your own program or what not? Sorry for all the questions, just want to ask someone who's already on the next step :)

From what I have understand none of the apartments will guarantee that they can match you up with someone in your program. That being said all of the student communities have a roommate information page (that you fill out when you are doing your lease). I was pretty specific on mine.. I know they will prob think I am crazy but hey I don't want roommates that are partying all the time.. I just specified I would prefer to be roomed with either a nursing, pharm, or medical student. I also state I did not want to be anywhere near the pool... I don't find out who my roomies are until july 15 so I can let ya know then what programs they are in. lol Oh and btw The Gateway also requires that you must be a student to live there. However, from my understanding all of the apartments are going to match students with students. It could all be empty promises.. Yikes I hate that thought. Also, I called Lubbock police department bc I was originally going to do University Courtyards.. I was informed that police have to patrol 'that area' more often bc it is a rougher neighboorhood. So, my mom pretty much ruled that one out (being a protective parent and all). Also, there is a place called The Retreat and from my general feeling of the place I would not recommend it.. Their big thing was 'We have the biggest pool in Lubbock.' Hmm nice but that is not why I am going to nursing school. Also, the bigger the pool the more people there will be there. Just utilize your sources and ask around! You can even ask them to look up previous residents monthly bills so you can get an idea of the cost of the apartment you are looking at. Keep in mind that even though places are all bills paid-- for summer months you will likely be going over your $30 cap (which is split between the total number of roommates) When are ya going to be looking at apartments? I recommend making a list of apartments before you go out to look at them.. That way you can write down your thoughts about each place.. It'll help you remember the apartments better. P.S. the cottages is not all bills paid-- it includes gas/ trash, internet and basic cable. Good luck on your search!! :)

Okay so I have a question

I called tech to ask them but apparently they don't like answering the phone or calling back. What all do we need to get done before we start in regards to vaccinations, CPR, meningitis blabla cause I have no clue and would love to know

Im planning on leasing for university pointe (because its right next to the nursing campus) and im looking for a roommate!

Im attending the lubbock nursing campus and im trying to look for roommates! Im looking at University pointe but where is everyone staying? I would love to roomy with a nursing student! :specs:

please add me on facebook : enneye mak

Specializes in ICU.

Does anyone know where to find the book for Intro to nursing? I've tried finding it at the online bookstore, but can't seem to find the class anywhere.

Thanks!

Are you in Lubbock? I bought mine right by campus at Varsity. Maybe they would have it on their online site?
