Texas Tech BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hi!

I am applying for the Texas Tech HSC Traditional BSN program, Spring 2019. Is anyone else also? What are your stats (GPA, TEAS, supplemental items, etc). Just wanted to get a page started so anyone/everyone can answer and ask any potential questions they have!

Here are my stats (they're not the best but I'm doing my best!)

GPA: 3.672

TEAS: 79.3 (Going to retake it for a better score!)

Reading 83

Math 93.8

Science 68.1

English 75

I also have a resume and 3 letters of recommendation sent in.

What about everyone else?

Haven't heard anything yet either. Still waiting, and waiting.

So far, I hear that it takes about 4-6 weeks just to find out if you got an interview or not! I hope that it doesn't really take that long.

Hopefully it won't be too long! I hope and pray that we all get in! Keep us updated!

While we are all anxiously waiting for the results, I'm thinking we can talk about what kind of medical experiences, volunteer, or any resume stuff everyone has done! I know it would make me feel better to know if the amount I have done is good enough, or If it isn't enough, I'll know what I need to improve next semester in case I don't get in this time around.

I've volunteered at an elementary school as a mentor for 1+ years now. I currently volunteer at a hospice once a week. I was a UTA for a semester, and am in Double T Health Corp (I'm only in one school club unfortunately). I also did some shadowing the previous summer. I also worked as a medical technician at an Othalmology clinic!

What about everyone else? I know a lot of people I have talked to either worked as a CNA or an EMT, but I didn't so I hope that doesn't look bad!

I certainly think that is a great idea! I have been a Certified Surgical technologist for 5 years now! Four years in Surgery and the past year in Labor and Delivery! I love every minute of it. I just want to have more direct patient care and help in greater ways than I am able to at the moment. I would love to go to CRNA school after I finish my BSN and work in ICU/CCU for two years. After I had submitted my application, I got my CNA liscense but it was too late to add to my application.

Hi! I also applied for the Spring 2019 BSN program at Tech. My overall GPA is a 3.9 and I scored a 92 on the TEAS. I had heard about a week ago that a friend of a friend got her invite for an interview, but it could have been a misunderstanding. Has anyone else heard anything yet?

Ashleycst,

Wow, that sounds like great experience! I'm sure you've got this in the bag. I had no idea that nursing is what I wanted to do until my sohomore year, so I had to squeeze all of my medical experience into that one year and summer. Hopefully it's enough to get me an interview! So are you going to be using your CNA license?

Hi a_j20,

Your GPA and TEAS scores are amazing! I haven't heard anything and it does seem a bit too early for anyone else to have heard something. Unless maybe they were offered a spot from applying the previous year? I know some people applied last semester and didn't get in because of the lack of space. However, they were offered a guaranteed spot for the very next semester.

So what kind of extracurricular or medical experience do you have?

I think you will be a good candidate as well! You have great stats and some experience. No, I don't think I will be using my CNA liscense. I just got it for a backup plan in case I didn't get into Tech.

Elysialyhung,

I had thought it might be too early to hear anything back as a new applicant. I actually spent a few years in law enforcement before deciding I wanted to pursue a nursing career. I, like you, had to spend the last two semesters plus this fall cramming in my pre reqs and volunteer services/ observation time. I was fortunate to find a volunteer opportunity at a local cancer center. The nurses are great and offer great learning opportunities when they can. It's not much but hopefully with my GPA and TEAS score, I can get an interview. It's definitely nerve wracking waiting

has anyone heard back?
