Nursing Students School Programs

I’m not sure if it’s too early to start this thread, but anyone on here planning on applying to Texas Tech’s Second Degree program in May?

I got a phone call and we discussed everything!! @Sunflower54

I got an email that a decision had been made with a link to the application portal. I've been waitlisted for Austin ? wondering if I should email and ask if they can tell me what position on the waitlist I am so I can plan accordingly job-wise..

Anyone else have insight on waitlist statistics for this program?

I got waitlisted for San Antonio & I was wondering the same thing.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted or waitlisted. I unfortunately was declined admissions, not sure what is in store for me next! Does anyone have any information on programs like wga, wca or chamberlain? ❤️

@Jennifer DeFriese im sorry to hear you were declined. Maybe you can reach out and see exactly what were the circumstances around the decline so you can improve in those arenas. As far as other programs I would highly suggest Anyone who is needing program specific info to contact an advisor within the programs (I've personally spoken to one at ) to get first hand info. I find that more helpful than asking others in the same position as you. PLUS when the advisors get to know you when it comes time to decide on applicants your name will be familiar when your application comes up. Contacting the advisors/websites instead of forums with other applicants will also give you Information and more accurate information so it will heighten your chances of getting accepted ? I hope this helps. I had way more accurate info contacting the app advisors (For the almost two years that I was working on my app) at TTUHSC than the forum. I used the forum moreso for comradery rather than info bc I wanted the most info and best chances possible to get in.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

For those who got denied, I was wondering if anyone got an answer when you reached out to them about why you didn't get accepted?

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew what the department would be that I could speak to regarding the program/admissions in general? Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with the application process and communication and wanted to speak to someone regarding it. I am sure they do appreciate the feedback and I do want to make sure that they are aware of it for the next cycle since applying is expensive and I don't want anyone else to have a negative experience. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the admissions personnel you are looking for are the same individuals you mentioned failed to respond previously in a timely manner.

I can't defend their lack of prompt service; imo it's unprofessional. However, a way to overcome future mishaps (and provide the largest buffer to fix them) is applying early in the application cycle. Since this was the third school you mentioned applying to, your circumstances are understandable.

Best of luck in your upcoming ABSN program.

Ahh you're probably right, not sure how much reaching out would help ? Decided to edit my last post in hopes to reach out directly first but it may be a lost cause. Thank you so much for your response! Applying early is definitely important. To those applying in the future please apply super early if Tech is a top choice for you and apply broadly. Thanks & Good luck to you too!

I applied May 4th with everything they asked for and even items that were waived I had completed. The admissions person in charge of everything seems to be too busy to return emails promptly and when she does it hardly makes sense. I agree that they would appreciate your feedback- if the admissions process has flaws and needs improvement, it won’t happen if no one mentions it to them.

I would find out who to reach out to-and go from there. The information for them is listed in the information page, you can send me a direct message and I can tell you their names if you need them. I know I have certainly expressed my concerns and observations about the entire process.

I requested one transcript in April and another in may. Last one got checked off after the app close date. I got accepted into the program. TTUHSC has literally one of the best ABSN programs and arguably the most competitive program  in the state so keep in mind just bc you’re credentials are up to par doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get in. Im glad you got into the two others! Congrats!

Thank you for the response! My issue was never with my admissions decision, rejection is a part of life and I know this! Rather just the lack of communication that I experienced. Us as applicants do pay to have our application reviewed if we meet requirements, mine was almost not reviewed because I didn’t get a response to multiple emails. Had I not kept up with the forum, I would not have even gotten an interview since my transcript was lost and I had no idea. Tech does have a great program and everyone I spoke to has always been nice, but communication is essential during the admissions process and I would hate for someone to have a negative experience next year since applying is costly. Congrats to you too & Good luck!
