Texas Tech-Accelerated BSN Spring 2020

Published

I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying May 1st to the January 2020 cohort. I'm wondering how heavily they weigh the TEAS. Also, I have heard as long as you meet all criteria they typically give you an interview. Has anyone else heard this? I really like how they take a holistic approach to grant admissions. I'm wanting to apply to UTA but I feel like the main way you get extra points is by attending school there which I did not do! We'll see!

First off congratulation to everyone who has been accepted and is currently in their program!

Hi everyone, I am super excited to apply next Spring 2021. I found this thread and have a few questions for those who have gone through this process. Thanks in advance!

I will be graduating Spring 2021 with a BA in Communications and have already met 3 of the prerequisites (I believe there are 5?), I’m currently enrolled for the Fall 2020 Pathophysiology at Tarrant County College (however it is a 2 credit level course, will this be accepted by TTUHSC? Anyone in the DFW area with a good recommendation that will be accepted by them?

TEAS isn’t required for the Spring 2021 application due to the current ongoing pandemic, they just require a CNA certification before the first day of class?

I have prior experience in a healthcare setting through Hospice care as CNA and a Emergency Department Scribe at Cook Children’s here in FTW, I believe this will help my application.

When is the first day of class? I know they require at least three of the five prerequisites during the application process, but you must have all of them completed by the first day of class, so just wondering when that would be?

Finally when are interviews usually held after the application cycle decision process is in the Summer or fall?

So applications for the Spring 2021 cohort closed July 15th.

Regarding pathophysiology, it has to be a 3-hour course, not 2 hours (learned this via my transcript evaluation). For this applicant round the TEAS is not required, but you will need to have a CNA certification (not the license, just the class) as well as all of your prereqs complete before the first day of class (sometime in beginning January). And for this round the advisor say interviews should be given sometime mid-august.

Thanks!

I apologize for the confusion, I meant I am applying in the Spring of 2021 so next May! I’ll look into the patio physiology and see if it is offered anywhere online or in DFW.

@Carlos Perez I took patho online through DCCCD (it was through the El Centro location but was 100% online). It was a 3 hour course and was accepted by TTUHSC.

The application opens in May and closes in July. You have to have 3 of your 5 sciences completed by then and they all have to be completed before class starts the next January. You also have to have your CNA training course completed before the first day of class in January. The TEAS is waived for the 2021 cohort, but it sounds like you’ll be applying to the 2022 cohort and I’m guessing it will likely be required again. This has to be done before you submit your application.

This year is a bit different, by typically the application deadline is mid-July, they do interviews in mid- to late-August, and offers are made in September. The program starts a few months later in January.

@jillhill81 Good Morning! I am applying to the Dallas cohort and wanted to get more information about your experience at that campus. Have you all relocated from Lancaster to the medical district building?

@atxmitch hello again! I hope everything is still moving along in yalls cohort for Summer and fall. I was wondering if you had a fall schedule or syllabus yet? The Spring and Summer info you shared was incredibly helpful!

@allipalmerI uploaded the Fall calendar. I'll upload specific course calendars once the semester starts.

I'm wondering how the interview part goes. Will you get a "no thank you" email or just not hear anything until September? I'm freaking out a little that it's nearing the end of August and I still haven't heard anything.

I don’t want to ask anyone because I don’t want to be pushy but I really hope things pick up soon....

I'm glad we're in the same boat!

Has anyone received an interview for the 2021 application cycle?

@Lyric73 a bunch of us did yesterday! There are apparently two waves going out and the first was yesterday

Can anyone tell me where they took their pathophysiology class? The one I am in enrolled in does not transfer. I looked at DCCD and Austin College but they show as not transferable on the equivalency guide. Did anyone get an okay for patho from either of those colleges?

@ahrogers I did patho online through DCCCD in 2014 (RNSG 1311 I believe) and it transferred!
