Hey everyone! There is no thread for fall 2015 yet (maybe it's a little early), so I decided to be the one to create it today. The application deadline is January 15. Right now, I am super nervous about the TEAS V. I plan on taking it sometime within the next month or so.

Current stats:

Overall GPA - 3.77

Science GPA 4.0

Congratulations you guys!! I'm a junior (about to be senior!) in the nursing program. I'll be running the senior Q & A panel at orientation so I'll see you all in a few months! Feel free to pm me with any questions or suggestions for what you think incoming juniors need to know before school starts! Yay!

Congratulations ya'll! My name is Emily and i am also a junior (about to be senior!!). I recommend you guys create a closed/private class of 2017 facebook group and share it with your peers so that you can go head and start getting to know each other. There is also going to be a mentor program for you guys, and we are making ourselves available to you! There's a mentor facebook page called "St. David's SON Mentor Group". If you're interested in having a mentor, head over to that page! I'm excited to meet you guys at orientation!

I have a question! What is the schedule like for the first semester? Or throughout the first year? Are the classes Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm? What days/times? Also, are the clinicals (or anything of the sort) usually over the weekends? Or are they scheduled pretty randomly?

Hey Veronica I asked this in the 2014 thread and it was answered there, sorry I don't know how to link it or I would, but you can look at it there. :)

Found it! Thank you!

Hey! So fall semester we had clinicals/simulation on Monday or Tuesday (you don't get to decide). We had class Wednesday from 10am - 3pm, Thursday 9am - noon and Friday (3 hrs, i think it was 9am - noon).

This semester (spring) we have clinical Monday and Tuesday and class Wednesday - Friday. There are some clinical groups who did not have clinical on Monday and Tuesday and instead had clinical Friday night and Sunday.

Over the summer, our schedule looks like we'll have clinical either Monday or Tuesday, class Wednesday and Friday and simulation labs on Thursdays.

Hope that helps!

Yes it helps so much! Thank you!

Also you don't actually do clinicals in a hospital until the last 4 weeks of the fall semester. Until then your Monday or Tuesday clinical day is at school until 3 or so I think and you'll be in groups of 10 in a sim lab room. You'll have a lab partner that you can practice skills with as you learn them. Your homework will be to watch some videos on how to perform the skills, then you come in to school and actually do them on the mannekins with the assistance of your clinical instructor. It's gonna be so fun you guys! We can't wait to meet you all!

Ohh okay! Cool! I am so excited too :)

btw, how long are the clinicals? In simulation lab and hospitals?

Most of the time you're in sim lab for 6-8 hours. Clinical at the hospital can be 8-10 hours. In the sim labs, if you finish everything before it's time to go, some instructors will let you leave early, some won't. At the hospital, you usually get there at 6 or 6:30am and meet up for post conference around 2. Again, it just depends on the instructor. Some instructors keep post conference short, some are long. Expect at least 6 for sim lab and at least 8 for the hospital.

I'm anxious with the list of things to do and can't wait for classes to start. That being said, does anyone know what was the date you registered for classes? I need to plan ahead with all the due dates.
